Good boy Dave! I almost bid on one but the boss reminded me I had to get rid of Stalwarts first, at least she was for it, before she was against it. :cookoo: Perhaps she wanted it for herself, she drives the HEMTT more than I get to. :(
Plus SC to the Left Coast might have been scary expensive!
Can't say for sure yet, I'd certainly like to. The "lil terrorists" are keeping us pretty busy these days. I'll let you know in a few days and then you can assign me something to bring.
Not on OD but with conventional paint both acrylic enamel and laquer. If you have to do it early a bit of liquid soap works well as a lubricant in addition to the water. Rinse well when done, and repaint with a wetter coat of paint.
I think you'll wind up with a semi-gloss if you don't paint...
I use a rotary tip on my 3000 psi 6 gpm unit, sometimes it wants to suck the supply hose flat. Mine uses a gear reduction unit rather than belts, it makes it a bit smaller. They don't seem to make them any more, belts and pulleys are cheaper than gearboxes.
The pressure is good for such a small unit but I SUSPECT you'll be lacking the needed flow (in GPM) to have it work efficiently. I could easily be WRONG!
CUCV aren't a problem as their charging system is MEANT to have a 12V tap. All the rest will have an eventual toll on the batteries. :deadhorse:
Use a converter, equalizer, add a 12V battery and charging system or tap the grounded battery and pay the price of shorter battery life. Your...
You are correct in your last thought. I'd keep a close eye on it and change the oil in it after 250-500 miles, you should have a clue to its working life by then. If there is no metal chips, you JUST MIGHT have dodged a bullet. My guess is that you have scored the ring and pinion as they have...
Damon got mine for $26,000 on eBay and had added $35-40K more into it when he sold it to me. I've since added another $10K and it's still not quite done. I still need to remake the engine "doghouse". We aren't cutting corners with this one and hence the high cost. I had some soldiers (HEMTT...
For small to moderate loads your approach seems best, especially if you consider using a small dry cell motorcycle battery as your 12V storage. Mount 'em in any position and can't leak, 'cus they are DRY!
Next in my opinion would be a battery equalizer.
Followed by a second alternator . . ...
Do what you want, you have to pay to replace the batteries before their time. You CAN do it but it WILL shorten the life of your batteries, PERIOD! If the draw is really, really low, it might make little more than a few months or year difference. Bigger loads will kill your battery VERY quickly.
Since a Goat isn't articulated in a conventional sense in the longitudinal axis, there is no issue. The last axle of the carrier only turns one half of the front axle so it has a tendency to dampen any trend to become unstable. My wife had hers beyone 60 and only had issues when she hit bumps...
