I agree 2/0 for a Deuce. I use welding cable, I solder the ends with easy to get, pre-measured solder plugs and then I heat shrink 'em with those 3 layer tubes with 2 layers of heat shrink and one layer of potting compound. That way I'll never have to mess with them in my lifetime, just a...
A Fox is only 14,000 lbs but they are 3x more expensive than a Ferret. Foxes were made in VERY limited numbers and I agree they are faster and much easier to drive than a Ferret. My wife owns both and equates it this way, Ferret = old Ford, Fox = Rolls Royce.
Dude, get a deuce and tow your trailer and be done with it. This old armor is not something you're gonna drive every day, old vehicles like these need a fair amount of attention. If it doesn't leak, it has no oil in it! The Brits., God love 'em over-thought the **** out of them, hard to work...
Ferret all the way, I have 4" on you and I fit great. You probably will have troubles going in through the front hatch but the top is easy. In the past few months there have been several Ferrets for sale in Fl.
I agree it would be good for a great many members. As for me, my HEMTT wheels already fit my HEMTT without adapters. I suppose they might look nice on my V100 . . . :)
You guys are a bunch of old horndogs!
My wife is big time into MV's, has had 3 at one time and still owns 2.5 of them. We share the HEMTT, and I get to work on them all. She gets involved when an extra set of hands or a strong back is required.
So welcome Missy, you aren't the only...
Good luck with that! Nearly anyone who went through the hassle of doing this is most likely selling them, hence they probably won't give their hard work away.
But the early HMMWV's had a tendency to loose the driven gear, and wheel assy. at speed. All Civilian ones were updated but AM General had to keep making the defective ones until they managed to get the Mil. Spec. changed.
One 1992 Civilian model owner was driving across Montana on the way...
Cool . . . NO! Red the notations under "*" and I quote:
"All high power emitter LED products mounted on aluminum metal-core printed circuit board, can be lighted directly, but we do not recommend lighting the high power products for more than 5 seconds without a appropriate heat dissipation...
I've had 2 fail and both times it failed turning on all lights. I traced down the problem to relays that were sending back EMF to the board in the pad, the IC's were burnt and broken. IC's operate at around 5V or less. Back EMF voltage from a relay can run as high as 200V (very low amperage)...
No I don't use it, it just has an empty bottle in the ether cans place. You said you didn't care if it's empty or not so I figured you just wanted it for show.
I'd buy my HEMTT again in a second, nicest Mil. truck I've ever driven. If I could only have one MV, it would be very hard for me to choose between the Scorpion Tank and the HEMTT.
