It is not an 800 series if it has the Mack engine, it would be the M54A1 type. The engine is very desirable for its longevity and wide power band. Unless the truck or engine is thrashed in some way, it sounds like a great find.
I think both the MVPA and Steel Soldiers can benefit from a better relationship and understanding of each other. I happily support the MVPA (and the ATHS) for their efforts in lobbying etc. I urge all SS members to check out the MVPA and join if it sounds interesting to you.

I had this issue when I owned a 1984 M1009. It turns out that the DoD selected the 1983 model and told GM to build them just like that. In other words, the engine mounts for a 1983 6.2 Diesel Blazer are the CORRECT ONES and WILL FIT.
I found this out the hard way and had to return the 1984...
Thanks for the link. My brother lived near Oshkosh for a number of years. I liked to time my visits to coincide with the EAA show. I especially liked checking out the seaplanes at the cool park by the lake on a warm afternoon.

They may have logos you could copy. Many of the companies are or were obscure, so it may be hard to find those logos. Also, the logos change over time, so a logo from WWII might look quite different from their modern logo. Corporate web sites...
Ling-Tempco-Vaught (LTV) made the prototype Gamagoat and Consolidated Diesel Electric Company (CONDEC) made the production version, if I remember correctly. CONDEC also made some M123 10-ton tractors.
