Good luck and keep us posted. What year is it?

Registering an M1078 in Washington State

We can sit back and hope they quit this nonsense about not licensing former military vehicles or we can do something about it. Victory usually doesn't go to the one that sits back. I want to see what they are basing their denials of licensing on. Right now it looks to me like the basis is...

Registering an M1078 in Washington State

We must be getting some traction somewhere on this topic, as I got a call from a staffer in the Governor's office on the way home today. Is anyone working on legislation for WA around this topic of Historic Military Vehicles? Their concern was that something along this topic may come up in the...

Registering an M1078 in Washington State

Don't know where you are located, but I have access to a 5th wheel plate you could borrow and flop on it and call it a tractor. I for one am getting tired of all these can't do people. I am looking for people that can make things work.

Registering an M1078 in Washington State

If it already has a license, you should be in good shape, but if you don't, it may be a hassle. I have talked with a couple of my state representatives and floated the idea of adding an Historical Military Vehicle section. They weren't opposed. Was talking with another one of the guys and he...

Registering an M1078 in Washington State

I did get registration started as an Off Road Vehicle. I asked the lady, how many 21,000 pound off road vehicles they register. It isn't her fault, she is following the rules on what they are telling her. It is interesting about what they started in September as I applied before that.

Registering an M1078 in Washington State

I was not successful with my June re-inspection of the 1991 M923A2. It did get inspected and the inspector wrote down Serial number, even though the data plate says Identification number, then he put a note that there was no VIN. He also said that it did not meet the FMVSS and has no tag in...

Grote 10-34V Military LED Taillights not flashing, MRAP take offs

Turn Signals not working. Thank you for this older post. Old post, but new truck to me with the same problem. The tech advice still works. Pulled the bulb out of the turn signal unit and turn signals worked. Will be looking for the BA9S LED bulb tomorrow. Local Auto parts store didn't have...

    M886 Commo Truck Build

If there is something you need, if you take a picture, maybe I could post a picture of mine to help out. It might lead you on the right wire direction.

LMTV FMTV replacement or upgrade air dryers

That is a lot of miles on a military truck. If someone is going out swamping and mud bogging it every weekend, they should do more frequent maintenance, but it seems that there might be a point of diminishing returns. My 5T probably gets 3 thousand a year and is babied. So don't think it...

Vietnam Appreciation Day JBLM 11 AUG 2018

Mission accomplished. For me the best part was listening to stories of the guys that met up and covered some of the same water or land 50 years ago. This was a wonderful event sponsored by the Ft. Lewis Military Museum. Great tribute to the Veterans of the Vietnam war.

    M886 Commo Truck Build

Is that a 77 truck? If so someone will be very happy to have that 76 grill. It looks very straight. Good thing about the M880's is that you can go to your local parts store and still get most of the parts you need.

LMTV FMTV replacement or upgrade air dryers

The shop guy at our local Cummins dealer told me they recommend changing every 100,000 or so on the air filters.

    M886 Commo Truck Build

That is a really a pretty straight looking M886. Nice idea on the step. Mine still has all the stuff back there so that is not an option. You might look at cutting the ends off the hitch you have and welding it inside the frame rails. That gets it up and out of the way. And you will still...

Vietnam Appreciation Day JBLM 11 AUG 2018

Joint Base Lewis McChord will be hosting a Vietnam Appreciation Day on 11 AUG 2018 at the old Ft. Lewis Museum. Event will go from 1000 - 1600. Vietnam Veterans, families and people with an interest in military history are encouraged to attend. The Museum has invited outside the gate military...

Registering an M1078 in Washington State

Have often thought that should be the law on property tax in this state as well. Most of us probably don't go out to find another vehicle at the highest possible price we can pay. We are looking for what we perceive to be a deal and if we find it, we buy it.

Good job. Most of the time, being nice goes a long way.

Registering an M1078 in Washington State

Just did a search for M211's for sale. There are several out there. You didn't say what you paid, but I saw trucks from 800 to 1500 in a very quick search. I would think you could print a few of those out to show to them to establish a price point.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Tool box corrosion repair Did a little clean up on the lower tool box on the 84 M923. There was some corrosion going on that needed some attention. Took the needle gun to it, cleaned it, and gave it a couple doses of POR 15. Then 3 coats of paint. Then cut some plastic matting to lay in the...

Summerfest Centralia WA July 4, 2018

Thank you to all that were able to attend. We had 16 vehicles in the parade this year including the PBR and its tow truck. Probably 35 or 40 people at the house for lunch. We received the best historic entry in the parade. They were desperate for candidates. We lined the vehicles up by age...
