Anyone got a copy of the FM 5-36 Route Reconnaissance and Classification Manual? Or the related AR 746-5 or TB 746-93-1? Basically I am looking for the specs and tables on the Bridge Plates and their use on different MVs. There seems to be a lot of confusion where the bridge plates and the...
Here's a good pic of two of the patterns I have seen for M880s in Europe:
The pics is from www.dodgem880.com The guy who runs the site is a member here under the name Romano.
There are a lot of those trucks out there but they are not considered to be a true "Military Vehicle" as far as the tactical style trucks we commonly think of as being MVs. With no data plates or M-series number they don't get the same respect I guess, lol. They are simply regular civilian...
Hmmm, you know that slide hammer looks like a pretty simple deal. I bet anyone with marginal welding skills could whip one up out of some scrap pretty easily and save some cash.
He's a great guy and knows his way around 715s pretty well, I think he has a few different trucks. I met him in person when he came down to pick up a few parts from me. There are a few others in the area up there too that he may know. I know there was one guy on The Zone before the crash in...
I think Warwick is up in that area and has a 725. He pops in here on occasion, but frequents The Zone a lot more. He's the one that recently posted the pics of the white and OD M715.
You need to tell them that you bought the truck from a civilian auction company, not from the US Government. technically the SF 97 is the release from government service and ownership. Without a SF 97 a vehicle technically still is owned by the US Government and the DMV will look at it as...
The wrecker looks pretty nice and mostly complete. I see the winch spades and the outrigger plates. Torch tanks are missing, but that's not a huge deal. Exhaust is changed obviously and the light bar on the cab is not stock. These sell in the US for anywhere from $10,000 to $26,000 in...
I don't think it's the fact that it's not military colors, but more the way it was painted. Like Hookin said, there's no real pattern, it's sort of painted like a house. Body one color and trim painted another. Sort of gives it a comical look that just sort of smacks of fuzzy dice and spinner...
And just to give those like me who have never been real close to a 5ton to see the size of one of them, here is a pic from Eastern Surplus with a 5ton dump beside a common Freightliner FLD-120:

That's probably the prefered method but when dealing with different kinds of terrain, you may not have anything to tie off to such as in the desert. Spades are about the only option you have at that point.
Kenny, why a 4BT when the stuff to put in a 6BT is already out there? Weight? Intercooler issues? Price? Just curious.
I have never owned a M880 series truck but I have one with a new cab and blue (ugh!) paint I could get cheap at any time, but I am not sure I would want to. I should say...
And as promised, and to continue my shameless hijack, here is a pic of my modified Tokyo Marui SR-16:
The colors got a little washed out by the white sheet background and the flash. They are much darker than that and very flat. It's the typical Krylon Camo Paint system from a rattle can for...
