So you’re saying you took the 12v fuel shut off from the bad IP and put it on the new 6.5 IP? Is that easy to do?
Is there a model number you have for that IP? On the Stanadyne manual there’s like 5 different 6.5 model numbers? And if I’m buying one, I guess I want to buy a good one
historically, my questions don’t capture a lot of answers but I’m looking for a lot of opinions from people who have replaced their IP’s.
Guys, I have a m1009 and m1008 no turbo. My m1008 is starting to lose power and I’ve replaced injectors, lift pump, and fuel filters. So I guess I’m down to...
Working on my m1009. New vacuum hoses and trans vacuum modulator. I know there are a lot posts about vacuum pumps and how to troubleshoot ones that aren’t working. But what about sort of working?
I can only get a vacuum of 14-17 out of the vacuum pump by disconnecting the lower hose from the...
Working on a m1009. I have a donor m1009 that ran before starting to pull parts from it. I used the functioning power steering pump from the donor that was not having issues. I installed it on my project m1009 and it drives and functions. BUT, when I turn the wheel to lockout, the fluid spews...
Going back to the engine grounding terminal on the back of the passenger side head with the firewall grounding strap attached to.
There is a grounding cable that goes to the grounding block on the firewall. But there is also a mystery black wire coming out of the wiring harness and terminating...
I know right? I got this thing and immediately dove into the issues. I only drove it down my driveway. So I’ve only cranked it once before popping the hood and starting to work
Yeah, I’ve got a donor that’s definitely a 24v starter. I’ll probably just swap them. Especially after looking at the pics and noticing the purple exciter wire terminal is busted on the solenoid. BUT!!!
I did just say the hell with it and swapped the starter wire to a 12v terminal on a battery...
hmmm. When you put it that way, now I feel like a dummy for assuming something that in hindsite doesn’t make any sense. Haha! That’s an easy fix. When I get home, I’ll try using 12v and report back.
you mean: coming off the same terminal that the grounding strap terminates at on the engine? Yes. There is a grounding cable that also connects there and goes to the ground block on the firewall. That same bolt also has a small black wire connected there that I think is a splice from the...
I asked the guy if he swapped the starter to 12v when he did conversion. His answer was no which confuses me a little bc he had it connected to a 12 volt terminal. I did check that terminal before dismantling what he had done. Maybe the starter was getting just enough juice to turn over?
It seems I never have to post anything unless it’s a wiring question. I have had a m1008 for 10 years with no real issues. I have recently acquired a m1009. The previous owner says he converted to 12v but it looks like all he did was disconnect the gen 2 wiring and remove the alt. I have...
Hey guys. M1009. The previous owner spliced into a lot of wiring. But I’ve gotten most of the wiring back to normal. Now that I’ve gotten the lights turning on with the dash switch and blackout lights working again. And the brake lights working. The running lights for both tail lights are...
I believe we are talking about the same thing. It is the main return line that lives just in front of the coolant crossover but it has some splits from both heads and the IP that drains down in front of the lift pump to the line on the frame. How much?
