I have cleaned diesel nozzles at pumps with ether because they were so nasty. Works good. If you think diesel was bad try the Seafoam or keep adding ATF. It might still free up that injector. Maybe try not driving it so hard for a while. I would put in the Seafoam in a nearly empty tank and run...
Go to John Deere and get a can of multi purpose spray lube and soak those fittings several times. This product is a penetrating and lubricating oil combined. It costs about $8 for a tall can. I use it on the farm all the time.
Both atf and power steering fluid are similar as hydraulic fluid. However atf has detergents and friction modifiers added that the automatic transmission requires.
If jump starting directly to one or both batteries connect jumper cables positive to positive and negative to negative Just like you normally would if 12 volt system.
If you want to get the most life out of injection pump and injectors with ULSD always add one of the high quality diesel additives at the proper dose to every tank. It will also run more quite and smoother!
