A few years back I had a spare Allison RDS2500 with the computer and it had an SAE3 bell housing. I had a few people help me figure a way to install it in an A2. After a few months of parts searching and planning I left the project to die on the drawing board. It wasn’t financially viable. I was...
I just got the transmission back in the truck. She still doesn’t have a rear driveshaft, or seats, or lots of things. But she runs, steers, moves and stops under her own power. I call that a good 4 days worth of work.
Today I took advantage of not having to work since a hurricane is coming. I got the seats out, the floor panels removed, the jack shaft removed, and the mount bolts out. The transmission is resting on a transmission jack. Tomorrow I should be able to get it slid back enough to correctly install...
Even with messing with my A3 today I got to put my A2 to good use. My friend is having the pine straw removed from his property. One of the tractor trailers got stuck in the soft sand. He called in a little assistance. I turned on the rear locker, low range and 4X4. Pushed that rig right out of...
I’m on the right track now. The TQ converter is not bolted to the flex plate. On my truck there is a small 2x3.5” inspection plate under the bell housing. There is no plug to remove on the drivers side. The plug on the passenger side is only large enough to put a #2 pencil in. I removed the...
Ladies and Gentlemen I am in need of assistance. My new to me A3 came with the torque converter not bolted to the flex plate. I have removed the starter and still do not see how to install the bolts. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
When I bought my A3 the generator was frozen up. I had the local electrical shop put together a 22si delco 24 volt alternator for me. It’s a one wire hook up. Has anyone else done this on the A3? I did it on my A2 but the wiring was different. If you have can you tell me how you wired it? Thanks.
Round 4 for pictures. I am keeping the tops. I need one for the Deuce I just bought. My Nephew needs one for his deuce, and the last one is for the next Deuce I buy. The frame is solid with no rust. The back of the passenger side cab has rust. The drivers door is pretty rusty. I'll have it all...
I keep trying to post pictures. I plan on 395s. Other than that I haven’t decided what I want to do with it. I went with an A3 this time because it was cheap. I mean real cheap. And it came with three new in the box hard tops.
I have a rear air locker in my Bobbed Deuce. I rarely use it and I wheel the crap out of my truck in the Florida mud. I have to say though that the few times I’ve used it, it was nice to know it was there. Unless you actually wheel your truck hard though I’d wait.
Well after owning 6 different A2s and settling in keeping one of them. I took the plunge and bought an A3. According to the paperwork it came with it was decommissioned in 2011. I bought it from Florida Department of Forestry with 13,146 miles on the clock. At some point it was picked up with a...
I’m leaving Gainesville fl Saturday November 4th. I’m headed to Macon ga. If you need something moved let me know. I’ll have an empty 34ft trailer behind me.
Thank you for the input about the vanner system. That's what I've been looking for. And I'm now looking at the e trailer site. I have only towed the camper about 15 miles so far. I moved it from my dads where it's been under the pole barn for 3 years to my house to do some much needed PMs before...
It is actually a winch truck. I just have the winch off right now. The truck is 11,400 with with the winch and the bed. So lets loose 1500 lbs with those off. The camper is 11,190 lbs dry. So all told I'm at roughly 21,000 lbs. Thats 9,000 less than what I had rolling from California to Florida...
