    Second Bi-Annual TX MV Rally

I had a good time on the trails, I'm always amazed at how well a 43 year old truck can perform. Even though there was a hill I couldn't climb I had a blast. The old truck wouldn't start Sunday morning, it turned out to be just a stuck float valve, the truck is running better now than in some...

    Second Bi-Annual TX MV Rally

Well I'm really starting to look forward to this event. I'm also really starting to panic about what truck to try to slap together in two weeks to bring. I have a 715 that's an easy fix and an M-35 that will take some doing but might be the better choice. Whatever I bring will likely be pretty...

    The combined fleet (attn. Kwai)

Nice tanker kwai! When I was in New Orleans for Katrina, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's department had one of those that the National Guard had dropped off at their command post. They let us come by and get free fuel for our rescue operations. It was a lifesaver until real logistics got...

    Sarge rides again!

Or as our fellow Texan Ray Wylie Hubbard said: "And when I walk through the valley in the shadow of death, I take along Samuel Colt". I've done the crossing the desert on a motorcycle in August thing and I would say keep each leg of your trip pretty short so you feel like seeing stuff when you...

    Bellhousing issue

RE: 3053A bellhousing What is the difference with the one piece rear main seal? How do the flywheels differ?

    715 in Canada?

Al/Qc/ca that is a great looking truck! I really like the radios and the marston mat storage on the troop seats and the jerry cans under the troop seats. The sandbags are a nice touch too. Can we see a detail shot of the spare tire mount? I see a plan coming together...

    Helped a woman in distress

I've stopped to help before for the same reason. I always say if they offer to pay: "I've got a wife, a daughter, a sister, and a mother, and I hope if they ever are stuck on the side of the road and need help that a decent, honorable, person like me will stop and help them. The only way that...

    5 Hours and $35.

Re: RE: Re: sanding Littlebob, I love the new avatar, it really fits with your truck progress. I liked the photos where Sermis sandblasted his truck. There is an oilfield sandblasting yard near my place, I'm going to see what they'll charge me to blast it. If the price is right, I'll have...

    Kwai's 818 Recovery

I am OD green with envy! That compressor looks great and there just aren't words for the tractor-trailer rig. Nice score.

    Gasser Tune Up

Sounds great! Glad you got it running good. It already ran good, but now you have it really dialed in, that must feel great. I've heard this truck run, and it sounded pretty good already. With all the work you've done, I can't wait until the next time I see it.

Is this really a deuce clutch????

RE: Re: RE: Is this really a deuce clutch???? One drawback to the ceramic "multi-puck" clutches is their use in 4wd vehicles in my opinion. If you are crawling or in a tight spot, it helps to have a clutch that you can slip a bit if you need to. The other type are great for road use and give...

Now I Don't Know if my Cab is even a Gasser Cab.

RE: Now I Don Now I get what you were talking about Tim! I can't believe how different those cabs are. I see what you meant about the MG mount on the passenger side door hinge. Today confirmed my suspicions that there is no telling how old my deuce is or what it started out as. It looks to...

    5 Ton Wrecker ?

Re: RE: M715 Yep, it definately has "the dent". In the same place as mine too, towards the right side. you expect it over where a trailer tongue might be, not out to the side. My deuce has it in the same spot as well.

    Finally

No worries. That is a really nice looking deuce. Mine doesn't look anywhere near that good, in fact mine still isn't roadworthy after 1 1/2 yrs and I don't regret buying it a bit. Have fun!

    Houston area roll call....

Caldwell here. About 100 miles NW of downtown. I had noticed that there seemed to be quite a few in the Houston area, maybe we should have that Starbucks get together one day.

    Finished painting my cab Sunday

Really nice work. I'm soooo jealous. I need to find the time and money to work on mine to keep up with those of you that are getiting it done. :) We are going to be ready for a before/after picture soon.

    Chemical Shelter Trailers

Nice score! I can't believe how good the condition on the main shelter is. Generally the shelf life on hypalon and such is about five years. After that time your inflatable shelter, level A suit, or Zodiac boat can be expected to start developing leaks. Looks really cool, I'm jealous. You...

    Bellhousing issue

Re: RE: Bellhousing issue The bolt pattern where the bellhousing bolts to the engine is the same. On the transmission side is where it matters which housing you get as to whether it will bolt to a 3053A. Gimpyrobb, I was planning on doing (or having a machine shop do) something very much...

    Bellhousing issue

I want to do the Spicer 3053A (M-35) transmission upgrade on my 715 that is getting the Chevy350 repower. Spicergear did this on his truck and I think a lot of his tech was used in writing this article in JP magazine: http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticl..._transmission/ I found a source for...
