I have a 6 speed heavy duty allison that I am going to put in my Deuce. So you're not the only one thinking about this. I just have about 7 other projects to clear out before i get to installing the tranny.
Here are a couple of pictures of the winch bumper I am building for the Blazer. It came out pretty good. It's 3/16 steel plate for the base and front plate. The tubing is SC40 1 1/2 pipe and the frame mounts are 2X4 1/4 wall rectangle tube. It's not done yet but close.
I have about 15 gallons of CARC primer sitting around if you need some for your project PM me. It will allow you to paint over whatever and re CARC your rig.
I unwind mine all the way out and hook it to my F250 or F350 in neutral and wind in back in in low gear very slowly. As it winds in either me or my buddy applys pressure to the cable to make it track evenly across the drum. If you do this a few times you'll have it down pat in no time. The...
The new FRAG-6 HMMWV's all have the 24 bolt wheel to hold the extra pressure put on the tires due to the weight of the vehicle. My company painted all the Frag-6 armor that stuff is heavy.
On my 1009 the power wire to the light was cut, the glow plug relay was fried, and so was the controler. I ran a 5 sec delay switch and just hit it when I am ready to fire it up. The switch turns them on for 5 seconds. If that's not enough I turn them on again. Works like a champ. I don't...
It's 45 min for me to get to Stodard Valley and I can bring plenty of fire wood for some bon fires. I'll be there with my Digi Ford and a bobbed deuce. Just be polite and repost the official date so I can request leave.
I bobbed one of mine and the other is in the process of being bobbed. Why? because I want to. No other reason than that. The newest truck I drive is a 1995 and the oldest is a 1967. All of them 3/4 ton or larger as my daily drivers so fuel mileage is out. Tire longevity is out since most are...
Welcome aboard. i am just on the North side of L.A. and seem to find myself traveling to San Diego fairly regularly. Sound like you're on the right path for the CUCV.
I have just removed the ambulance back off of a deuce with a deisel burning heater on it. Has anyone made a mount and mounted this under the hood of a deuce to have heat in the cab. And if so how hard is it. Thanks. I have the complete heater with it's own fuel pump and all the fuel lines. Thanks.
I live right by Edwards and work on base every day. Someone in congress thought it would be cool to put a bunch of Marines on an Air Force base. They should have went back to the drawing board for that one. But all in all it's a great place. I will be retiring here in three more years. The...
I am working with Mile Marker to produce a 18,500 lb 24 volt electric winch that will mount in the deuce behind the stock bumper. I am not sure when it will be ready for production but once it is I'll post it.
I took the deuce up the Tehachapi mountains today with a few friends to bust through the snow and get some firewood. We pulled out 4 truck loads of downed trees and had a blast. I had to bust the trail though the snow and winch a few times. Its a good thing I just put the winch on. On the way...
I finally got around to installing my winch today. It actualy went pretty easy. I need it for Sat I'm going to play in the snow and pick up a few down trees for fire wood. I even used the air fittings to run a cut off wheel to prep the cable to put into the swedge fitting. How much oil should...
I meant to say the tranny is about twice the towing capacity of the Allison out of the Chevy. Not diminsionally bigger. I have three different Stak T-cases right now. I do have an improved overdrive Stak, but the concensus is that the OD case can't hold up to the tire size I want to run 46". But...
