Well, I'm officially out. I really wanted to go, but I have to work next week. Plus, it costs $300 or so for me to make the trip, and as things stand I won't be able to swing it in time, not even close. So, I'll just save up for Haspin 2015.
Have a great time, folks.
Best option I'd recommend - these guys are specialists in exporting Russian-originated vehicles, including SPARE PARTS. Might be worth following up with them:

Wow, it amazes me to no end how you have been able to make such a respectable restoration in such a short period of time, while keeping it true to its original form.
Keep up the great work - can't wait to see it all polished up (so to speak) and done!
So, I take it there is no official numbers available outside of GM records? Guess they made so many CUCV 1s in the mid-80s that the II's weren't really needed by anyone in great quantities.
Got a call from a friend yesterday not far from me, he bought a pickup a while back and he says he wants me to look at it, says I'd "find it interesting". Upon inspection, it was a 1998 Chevrolet CUCV II. The paint was white, but it was a repaint so not sure of the original markings/livery...
I think you're going to have to be a little more descriptive of what the problem is, and what you plan to do. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish.
I don't forget you, Ollie! Since I typed the above, I remembered about 5 other Steel Soldiers I missed in my initial list. I have Old-Timers-Disease, it comes and goes... BTW, those were some great cigars! I'll have a few for you next rally at Gilbert.
Once again, had a great time at the show. It's one of the few times of the year I can get together with my friends and enjoy my hobby, sell off a few things I don't need to make a couple bucks, and relax a little more than usual. Lost 2 wheel studs on the trip (!!!), but torqued the rest down...
If anyone has 4-5 extra lids for .50 cal ammo cans, I could use them. I bought a lot of ammo cans in december, not all the cans had lids. :(
Also, looking for a good quality, preferably older US-made, bench grinder. Nothing too big, just for home shop use...
I'll be in Yellow LM18. Here's what I'm loading in the truck:
- new pairs of West Coast mirrors for deuce/5-ton, etc.
- halftrack parts, incl. fender, dashboard, passenger seat base
- MV taillights
- CCKW hard top
- M37 transmission, oil filters, misc parts
- deuce rear mud flaps
- 5-ton rear...
Hit another hamfest on Saturday in Hagerstown, MD. It was a small affair, a club gathering but a nice one. Most of the vendor spots were under cover to provide protection from sun or rain, though since I had a trailer with me I had to settle for an outdoor spot since I wouldn't fit in the...
If you use white pine, try getting a 5-gallon bucket of linseed oil or tung oil, and coat the heck out of it, giving the stuff plenty of time to soak in, before you recoat. When that stuff dries it hardens like noones business. Might make the pine last a LOT longer than normal.
Lots of equipment trailer owners around here go with locust boards, rough cut from the sawmill, instead of oak. Locust is very hard, sometimes called ironwood. A lot of the old fences around here are locust wood, the fences built 50-60 years ago and the posts are still standing. Not cheap, but...
Well, I'm out. I knew it would happen - work reared it's ugly but paying head and since work isn't that often for me I have to take it this weekend. So, once again I'm not going to be able to make the MTA show.
