    LD/LDT vs LDS Hydraulic heads

Normally, people replace one of the filter mounts with a spin on that fits a 2mic. Google turns up a bunch of 2 mic filters. Find a couple parts numbers and watch for good deals on fleabay. I think I got a box for $2 each or something. www.fleetfilter.com has good prices too

Need help deciphering what exactly my truck is

Good info, I like learning what changed when. Always thought a deuce was a deuce, but that's not always entirely the case.

Need help deciphering what exactly my truck is

That is an early style front crossmember, my A1 is like that. A1s are early to mid 60s. I'm not sure when they changed, but most A2's have a channel laying horizontal instead of that vertical square tube. Flat channel is weaker and bend and break sometimes.

Need help deciphering what exactly my truck is

Post a pic of front engine crossmember. Hood handle and gussets on the horizontal C hooks on the bottom center of the bed rails are USMC indicators.

Need help deciphering what exactly my truck is

You can add an air horn and solenoid easily enough. The stock ones are high pitched though. Older 5 tons, 800 series sound better IMO. I'd like to have a working electric horn for my A1. I've never heard one. Search up my posts on M35A1s and you'll find indicators like windshield washer knob...

I don't think those are orig data plates, they're refurb plates. http://www.militarytrader.com/military-vehicles-news/deciphering_the_codes_kaiser-jeep_and_am_general_2_12-ton_truck_production

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Rusty, you've rebuilt a lot of stuff. I've always wondered how many miles are on my 70. Judging by the lack of wear on the pinion flange from the seal, and what I found inside the broken transmission which looked really good except for being broken, I think this is a low mileage truck, but the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Changing front pinion seal. First I thought I had water in the diff because of the thick chunks and milky look but then when I pulled the seal I found white lithium grease behind it. I'm still gonna drain a little oil and see how it looks. Spring had come off the old seal and gone inward. Old...

    LD/LDT vs LDS Hydraulic heads

IIRC, advancing timing increases cylinder pressure, and compression is already high. Might stress it excessively.

Anyone interested in heavier duty hydraulic head button retaining clips?

Update: keep running into hiccups and delays, and this is a side project at work, but we are getting close.

    need help with m35a2

I have a '66 with civvy rigged engine mounts that hits too. I'll look and think next time I'm out around my deuces. My suspect is the front engine crossmember. My '62 has a vertically oriented rectangular tube and the later ones have a channel that is horizontal or laid flat, and they bend and...

    1962 M35 a1...

Here's another A1, they look similar. Couple other guys in that thread have A1s too, Scooter and stb64. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?97823-found-m35a1-what-am-I-in-for/page2

    1962 M35 a1...

Thanks for the pics! An M35A1 surviving mostly in A1 configuration with A1 data plates seems to be quite rare. Either they were converted to A2, or surplused out and run into the ground (like mine) or scrapped. Looks like yours has an A2 engine and exhaust. does it still have the foot or stomp...
