I've been driving the 1009 like there is a raw egg under the accelerator pedal....this mornings fillup computes right at 20 mpg. I'm pretty happy with that.
I have no info about the cost or availability of the window guards : they were on the surplus Border Patrol vehicle when I aquired it. I estimate it would be a thousand dollar bill for materials + fabrication + install.
No " 3 -axle-hassle" with DMV, DOT, and other law enforcement. Current tags cost me $19 for the CUCV.
I dunno about the size -of -the- garage thing.... if you bang the back end of the garage and half is still hanging out, will the missus say that is a good thing ?
I wonder if its actually operable ? Or is the cab just placed on there ? Thinking about the control mechanics of that setup : steering, gearshift, pedals..........
The vehicle is ex-Border Patrol as shown in my avatar (so it wasn't green anyway). The guards are to protect agents from rocks thrown on the MX side. That stuff doesn't make the newspapers back East?
My "thing" is to repurpose MVs (I think that's the modern, hip terminology) rather than restore them. I didn't want it either tan or green. Or Air Force blue. Or purple nor orange. Gray makes it look like its primered. Black too hot for AZ. White , well it was white w/ green stripe before...not...
I think mine is gonna work OK. If you look at pic #4 u can see one with the custom turret top you are looking for. It has a swivel seat in there. Its located at Jack's in Tucson, AZ.
