Shifting techniques of experienced Deuce Drivers

On a heavily laden deuce or on a start on a grade, I put the main transmission in second and drop the transfer to low. Next shift is transfer to high, then 3-4-5 in high. Works best for me.

    Garwood Winch Part Identification

I have never seen that split collar before on a Garwood winch. Looks to be a freewheel lockout function like you say. I think that is a 20,000 lb winch, are there any numbers on a data plate or stamped on a boss?

    Electrical Gremlins. HMMWV M1097R1.

Crazy stuff happening with turn signals can be the lever being defective or bad grounds at the lamp units. Headlights that worked but now don’t could be burned out bulbs or grounds again.

M151A1 new 4 wire alternator connection

Looks like all that needs to be done is to plug in the excite wire. There is no HMMWV specific alternator, the 60 amp units are all military standard. If your alternator does not function, double check that excite voltage is present at the wire when the ignition is on. It’s always possible...

M151A1 new 4 wire alternator connection

The alternator does need an excite wire, but you need to tie it in with the ignitor feed, not the starter. If your alternator has a 12, gauge pigtail coming out of it, that is the excite wire which must be switched on when the ignition is on.

    M1090 Dump bed not Descending!?

Does the Parker valve spool have plungers that you can manually push in on the ends? If so try pushing those to see if you get movement in the ram. I think I see the safety brace up? Don't want ya getting squashed.

Need a regulator for 60A generator.

That unit is definitely worth repairing, much more reliable than the Prestolite 60 amp even though it’s much older.

M101a2 Tires with Split Ring / Rim

That rim needs to be serviced by a 18 wheeler truck tire shop. They won’t have that size tube on hand either. Suggest you bring new tubes with you for them to install. Takes about 10 minutes per tire.

4L80e Code: 22 - Throttle Position Sensor low voltage

The TP sensor is simply a rheostat that increases or decreases voltage based on how far you have the pedal pressed. That voltage is what the computer reads to judge when you want shifts to happen. Right now it’s thinking you want max power high rpm shifts as it is not reading correctly...
