I overheated this morning in a parade. I figured bad water pump? Bad thermostat?
Drained the radiator at the bottom drain. Maybe two gallons+ coolant came out.
Is that too little coolant to drain out? Maybe I was just low on coolant?
I took two M35 window frame rubbers and using a very sharp razor cutter trimmed the two to fit in the M211 windows. A little rubber sealant seems to work fine and difficult to see the joints.
I do not recall when I bought my winch deuce and a half. Four or five years ago at the least. It was my second and a good buy at $1250 from GL in OKC.
The batteries failed on Saturday. I thought I had replaced them some time back.
Turns out the Continental 6TL were in the truck when I...
OK, here is what I think happened. I changed one of the cylinder heads two years ago. Flushed the oil four times to remove the coolant that came with the cracked head. Oil is perfect.
So, I got lazy, checked the brake fluid only since.
I think I had a leaky radiator cap. It allowed steam...
Anyone with the M35a2 or 5 ton 800 series needs to make this mod as soon as possible. The kit offered here has all the parts and should be a quick install. You can save the time looking for the parts you need just by getting it all at once.
The it is a matter of where to mount the remote...
Just an update for now. I have driven the winch deuce in several parades since the head change. (I do not have any other use for it) Driven several hundred miles.
On the first run I opened the oil fill cap and looked at it. Some trace indicators of anti-freeze on the cap. I figured it was...
I was cooking BBQ for about 300 other lawyers at Texas Tech in January. We had to begin about 4am. It was dark cold and windy work. We had four Texas type smokers going with about 300 lbs. of ribs on. We ignited the fires with a propane torch and 5 gallon bottle.
About 6:15am I was walking...
I ruptured my Achilles tendon in January. Rehab is no fun.
For three months I wore a boot to prevent further harm and allow healing.
I have just begun learning to walk without it again.
I have not been able to move about much without pain and working on the deuce has been iffy at best.
At...
I pulled an air pack, found it cracked. Fortunately, I have two more. I am working on winch drive line parts now. I have reproduced the bearing mount. I am looking for a shield to replicate.
Brake parts are around, just have to be patient.
By the way, for anyone trying to figure out where the water is coming from, remove the injectors one by one while turning the engine over. My engine had a number three cylinder gasket blown. Replaced the gaskets. Moved the front head to the rear. Started motor and blew the number six...
Keep everyone posted on this. No one knows what goes wrong on these engines. The military just pulled them out and replaced them. The rebuild facility just rebuilt them without telling the operators what was wrong.
We learn here from experience. I pulled my heads three times before finally...
I bought my first of three deuces in 2007. Strange vehicles to say the least. I began replacing the worn stuff first. Tires, gauges, seat covers and such. Then I moved to the engine stuff, new belts and such.
Along the way I became acquainted on the net with a guy know mostly as JT. He was...
