I need the shield for the cushion bearing on the winch drive line to use as a pattern for reproduction. I have the under cab bracket and cushion bearing mounts already reproduced. The shield has been illusive to find.
I finally loosened the front engine mounts on mine. I suspect it varies on vehicle to vehicle what you do.
NickD had an article in MV Magazine on this. I did everything he did. No luck. I suspect that there is some variance in the engine location due to different manufacturers and quality...
We had an 11 inch rain here in 2007. We rescued a man off and F250 in more than five feet of flood water. Worked fine.
Went to work on the brakes some time later, Ooooops! The front seals leaked and the bearings were shot on both sides.
Take some time, pull the front hubs, clean and...
Here are the pics of the new pillow bearing bracket compared with an original.
The first shows the mounting holes with the sloped shape to allow the proper angle. The original is on the right in each pic.
The second shows the mounting holes and drive shaft hole.
They are identical.
I have turned my attention to the drive shafts now. I am looking to see if there is a manufacturer of them some where.
One solution would be to cut down a long shaft, re-weld the end to the proper length. I will post some pics of both shafts.
I have had two exact duplicate bearing mounts made. More can be made.
This came from an original bearing mount bracket as a pattern.
I have a close to original bearing bracket shield. I need an original to compare and build from. If you have one that I can borrow for a couple of weeks, it...
There have been many posts such as this over time here.
On both of my deuces I just got tired of fixing one day only to have the same or similar problems a month or so later.
So, I spent a couple of hours on each, cleaning every ground and replacing the inside/outside lock washers and traced...
Check the oil cap on the top of the engine to see if you have some milkshake. If not it probably is the oil cooler. You can check the cooler under pressure, but it probably needs new gaskets and O-rings as opposed to a new cooler.
The red one pound Folger's coffee can is the easiest and cheapest of all solutions.
Fits tight, blows off under pressure and I always have a new one in waiting.
You will find the threads on this helpful. When I did it a couple of years ago, not much was available here, but that has changed a bunch.
Be sure to disconnect the air vent line in the cap. A plug is available from any hardware store cap the line.
I top my MC off each time I drive it. Takes a couple of seconds.

Life with a deuce can be much simpler.
I began this thread a long time ago but it still has a purpose. My suggestion is to apply heat from a torch to loosen the nut.
A couple of years ago, I removed a M135 steering wheel that had been setting in the open for about 15 years. The nut broke apart under pressure and it took a chisel...
I picked one up several years ago at the Red River Army Depot, jump started it, drove it all the way to Bonham, Texas, 118 miles. You may be surprised at how easy it actually can be.
YMMV
