What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Well, I haven't been able to gauge it that much since it was recovered, I put in 40 gallons and have not gone through it yet, but don't entirely trust the gauge. On the recovery it was close to what people have observed, doing 55, it was 8-10 MPG, and 65 was around 7-8, sometimes less.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Drove the big guy today. Hard starting in cold weather, so I got out and hand primed a bit, then it started right up. While warming up, I head two air leaks from the CTIS valves. One was on the back and easy to snug up, the other is on the front. I tightened it too much and it leaked, I...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

That few could be 15-20. Give it some time.... If it fails after that, let us know the pressure in each tire...

    Hard Copy Manuals

4 of them in varying ages on the Bay right now. I have a couple 2320-272-10's if that's what you're after..

    M923 with drained fluids

Another theory I heard was overseas shipping to another country for sale. (not for military ops). Most commercial shipping vehicles in containers requires draining of all fluids before shipping unless it's a roll-on, roll-off shipping scenario. These might have been intended to go somewhere...

    Locking fuel cap

Be very careful. I bought one on eBay, went to put it on, and it felt a little hard to turn, turned it a bit more and it was stuck. I ended up beating it with a sledge to get it off, and the key mechanism broke. Luckily, no metal shards in the fuel and I put my old one back on with no issues...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Checked my transfer case for air routing mistakes, it was not backwards. Checked the front axle light, and redid the apolstery on the seat back. Prepped my old hard top for a buddy. Waiting for it to warm up a bit to test out 6wd, and to play with the the winch.

I got rec plates, but that was after a 3 months hassle. The counties are a bit different in how they deal with it. Had to sign a non commercial affidavit, which was fine by me. About $300 a year, instead of $800! Check my threads on to be latest Colorado licensing...

And one last point, the NOS market competes directly with Glen. I was going to sell some Flasher units to people I got from Glen's, even you!, and I think people would prefer the NOS ones as the supply is out there, so the demand is not there even if we think there is. Think of all the time...

The fact is he is parting out things. He buys them from the auctions just like we do, and allows us to come in to pull and buy at a massive discount. Someone has to buy the non runners. He has supplied tons of owners with parts and pieces that we would never be able to get. I know a lot of...

Glen's is actually a salvage yard that he allows us to go in to pull, so if we don't get them, the crusher does. Check out the BFR metals thread for more info.

I grabbed one extra chain hoist on a trip from Salina. Maybe able to help you out there. A trip out to see Glen in Salina might be worth the cheap gas to get those things. I went 4 times this year!

Up it to 24v so you can add some proper military electronics.

Yup, you're looking for solid red at highway mode after it's done with checks and then when it goes from blink to solid ready...HONK! It never fails either that or the expello gets me when I'm under the truck or not expecting it. Glen (who posted above) has had several of these trucks and is...

And the battery box seems to be a problem with the Riley trucks. Check this one out. I think the batteries froze after years and spilled acid.

Glad to hear it's going well. The CTIS is a bit of a mystery at first. Lots of things that make it run, but there some excellent threads on here from some smart peeps, as you know. I still appreciate the CTIS honk every time it's ready to go. I still think it's worth the extra complexity...
