    LDS-427 turbo

I have an LDS 465 and am familiar with the differences, but this thread is referring to a 427...different animal. Jatonka and others say the 427 has more seat of the pants power than the LDT 465, and that the turbo was there to make power, not just clean up smoke.

Anyone ever try and see how much boost they make?

    Paramount water truck

I will test injectors eventually, but I can hear the pushrods clattering, which was what my '62 was doing, valves were very loose, and adjusting them made a huge improvement. Three of the exhaust valves were very loose. Should I not run it until I get the HG situation fixed? Or is a little...

Well, apparently she doesn't like makin' power. Valves started ticking, causing a little chug at idle, no biggie. On dry start, the engine sounds kinda "clattery" 'til the oil pressure comes up (it comes up to 60 psi cold at idle I think) and then when it gets warmed up, and the pressure goes...

    Got a Deuce! '62 M35A1

'cuz I heard a rumor. I may just run 'em. I have half 'n half. I want riveted ones on the outside at least, cuz I think they're "original". JS, weld the rivets on the inside, or weld the center into the rim?

Are the old riveted center wheels really that problematic?

    Got a Deuce! '62 M35A1

I did, our smaller (50,000#, or maybe it's 50 tons...) press works pretty good. Once I got it all figured out and got the hang of it, I didn't really even have to work at it very hard. The forklift does all the lifting and the press does all the bead breaking. No duckbill sledges or any other...

16,000# Forklift not getting it. Pinched all the way down to the floor, some Of them the tread ripped off and the bead still didn't give. Tires were so old and hard they felt like they had max pressure with the valve cores out.

I'm pretty sure some of these have been together several times longer than yours were ;-) Pictured is the ring prybar I made, kids playing on the swing over the safety tubes, early method of pulling the wheels out of the tires with the crane, later better method of using the press (and forklift...

Your description sounds like these. I got 8 out of 10 9.00s dismounted and one 11.00 mounted. The rest of the wheels will be blasted and painted, and I still have to (carefully) break dow the rest of the 11.00s.

    Got a Deuce! '62 M35A1

After taking to Tom Bauer on the bookface, turns out I wasn't getting the tire bead pushed down far enough, and that's why I was having a hard time getting the rings off. The tool isn't really necessary now that I'm getting the beads down with the press. 16,000 pound forklift wasn't cutting it...

I would grind/sand or machine a radius on a Grade 8 nut to match the arm and then lock it with a lock washer and jam nut.

Yeah, it's metal spray. More porous than I'd like, but that's about as good as it gets I think.

Axle shaft seal areas repaired. Bushings and seals etc. on order, hopefully have it back on it's wheels before long. Oh yeah gotta dismount 20 tires and mount ten. Yikes.

    Paramount water truck

Should an LD leave a constant trail of smoke, or just on acceleration where it's getting a lot of fuel? Thanks

Repaired the muffler and reinstalled it, took it for a drive. Much better, feels like my LDS before the boost kicks in. Can actually accelerate in 5th. Leaves a nice constant, fat, trail of smoke. Might back it off a bit. Sounded a bit different after a run down the street, think I need to...
