Taking all the bolts from the steering gear in place can be frustrating at best. The NickD article is a great help. However, if your motor is located a bit to the near side of the box, you can spend a week trying to duplicate Nick's method and go nuts!
What is the simplest way to do it? If...
Go to Grainger and get a supply of internal/external star washers and start cleaning the metal surfaces and replacing the rusty star washers on all the grounds. You will not be sorry.
I was driven crazy by poor grounds. I finally put new bolts, cleaned around the bolt holes, new interior/exterior star washers on each and finally got good grounds all around and the flashing started. Be sure to check the ground on the flasher unit also.
These are really easy to install, even for a lawyer. I liked the small butt connectors on this one as it made the shrink wrap look much neater. If I did a few more I could probably make them look much more professional. But, I kind of think two deuces is enough.
Thanks again Bjorn for taking...

The first shows the installed unit. The second is the unit being installed. The third shows the wiring connected and the shrink wrap on.
A great idea that I have installed on both of my...

It is serious business.
Sorry, no pics. It is one of those incremental things. You do a little every Saturday, some more on Sunday, wait for warm weather and finally it all comes together.
But, it sure feels good this evening.:-D
I got a w/w deuce in OKC in July. Got it home on a trailer. No lights. Pintle hook driven in some four inches. No tach. No horn. Bent front fender. Large dent in cowl on driver side.
With cranetruck's help the electrical came around in a few weeks. Hunting shorts has never been this...
This is the tach bracket at the front of the engine to keep the tach cable from rubbing against the compressor belt.
I need one. How come it is always the weird small parts that cause the problem?
Or, if you can give me the measurements I can build one this week.
