The owner had time today and brought the parts over. Glow plug swap and installation of the aux ground harness yielded no start and nothing for power. Check the cannon connectors that had been left unplugged and we get the wait light, let it cycle, then start and vroom! A faster start than it...
I thought I was clear.
The variation in units is greater than it seems based on initial checks. The KDS unit does have the extra diag port on it, but I think it's a green label unit and not a yellow label unit.
Why the heck do the units fry when you disconnect power from them? Seems a design...
Pretty much my point to the owner if the PCB does end up being ok. The money spent means a part swap in the field vs a tow and substantial downtime where he may not want to be for hours. He agrees so isn't quibbling over ordering the controller box.
Also, to add, the I've made sure the cannon connectors are clean and corrosion free during my work sunday. They were cleaned/lubed with CRC 2-26.
Additionally, the truck will be getting a battery disconnect to add some insurance against this and provide some security.
So a neighbor has a friend who has one of the USMC/FMC batch M998s. He brought it over for a party Saturday night and left the ingition on overnight. Connected to a slave cable, the engine would turn over but never start. Smoke told me it was getting fuel.
I've never diagnosted a HMMWV before...
I'm in Atlanta and I'd be hard pressed to think we've had 90° days. Kenny likely it's 90° in the direct sun but cooler than than in the shade. Mid 80s has been generally the peak over the past week. It should be reasonably comfortable at the Rally.
The saturation will fade with about a year's worth of time. I used the 383 green from Rapco as well about 5 years ago and it's a darker color now.
I mounted my armor'd vehicle dome light the same way but ran a ground near the driver's side and tapped the power lead off one of the leads under...
It would have to be the voltage output from the alternator. Don't run it with that much voltage. It'll kill your batteries. Check the TM's for diagnosing the alternator.
Jeff, you can run 5 tons off road, and 10 tons on road. That's what they're rated for as a matter of routine. Doing more is possible but I would not do so on the highway or anywhere that speeds were remotely above 15 mph. Doing so is asking for trouble. 15 tons would be asking a lot for the truck.
Got my front axle boots done. I have a good tires that aren't bald. Barring not having spare funds for fuel and food, I should be there Thursday!
I'll be bringing my lighting kit and hopefully my down the street Neighbor will be coming too and we can rig lights and my generator for power and...
It is my understanding that the Trailer weights are NOT doubled for on road use.
the -14&P for the M105A3 lists 3000 lbs highway and cross country for payload.
the -14&P for the M796 lists 8000 lbs payload for both highway and cross country.
Same for the M353A1, 7000lbs payload. No...
Off the cuff, I'd think an aux fan blowing air through the right side fender area would work reasonably well and not parasitize cool air from the engine radiator.
What about a scoop on the front right air intake plus from under the front right headlight ducted into the unit with an aux fan?
