You can pop the head off of it and look at the piston. You have to drain the coolant though. It may just need a new gasket. On mine the unloader body (the four bolts on top hold that and the head on) came right off but the head was stuck tight. I had to drive a chisel in the seam to get it...
I looked at that option but the one we had handy had the motor hanging down.
The key is going to be keeping the tool stationary while spinning the tire.

My tires are still lumpy and I have had no luck finding a shop to shave them. I have a plan in mind to shave them myself and will post up my success or failure on the project.

The two bolts on top hold a round cap in. That is the unloader. Someone told me to take the line off it and put a few drops of transmission fluid in there to lube the unloader. I didn't try that though as the advise was late. I had already rebuilt my compressor and unloader.
