If you don't mind, how much length are you adding to the cab? I have a crew cab build in mind also and just trying to get a rough idea of layout before I start.

That is very good advise. When I removed mine they all gave a little hiss. Not much, but enough that I was glad I replaced them. Most of my pinion seals are leaking too, but nothing like the OP's. I went with a brass fitting and hose BTW.
When you shift into low range the front axle will lock up automatically. I have disabled this feature on my truck, but my dash switch still works.
The shifter has a washer that hits a little lever underneath the truck and is simple to disable if you choose to do so.
