My unloader leaks like a sieve but will still keep up with one emergency glad hand open. The compressors pump very well.
Have you sprayed it with soapy water to see if yours is leaking also? The unloader leaking could cause the issues you are experiencing as it sounds similiar to what mine is...
The two bolts on the side hold the intake line on.
I am not sure what part needs to be replaced. There are two springs inside there, gaskets, and seals.
The unloader will come out but you have to take the top off the compressor too. This includes draining the coolant (the two lines coming in...
Spray your compressor with soapy water. My unloader leaks like a sieve even after tearing it apart twice (new gaskets once, gaskets and gasket sealer second time). I am not sure if it slows down at a certain pressure though but my truck seems to be doing the same thing.
I think the non-steel...
NAPA sells a replacement heater fan. Be warned though, they ordered mine and charged me shipping to their store. If I had known that I would have had it sent to my house.
PN 655-1320 and cost me $55 w/ shipping. $37 before shipping and tax. You just have to hook up a ground wire, besides that...

I...
One thing to try would be to open all the drain valves and/ or emergency glad hands and see if the noise still comes out of the intake stack. More or less run the truck with no air pressure. This should tell you if it is the air system or not.
Good luck and keep us informed.
When does it leak? All the time or just when you use it?
I assume it isn't just the air exhaust when in use, correct?
I haven't had any issues with mine (yet) so I am not familiar with the symptoms.
I have done something similiar with a dually pickup. Wet road, trailer brakes locked down, and soft wet mud. It worked well enough but the other 6 tires on the truck/ trailer did not come clean at all.
