    Wheel nuts

They probably switched them to a 5 sided nut to prevent pvt snuffy undoing those in the field with his tool kit and blowing his head off when the wheel let loose. Probably a special tool for that. Try some of the tool catalogs online at either McMaster or the like. They ought to have something...

    Reflective Tape Question

Once again, state regs vary. Federally, the regs exclude lots of vehicles based on their not being used commercially. They don't for example, exempt recreational vehicles because of configuration, but rather because of their use. Driving back and forth in your state or between states is NOT...

You want grade 5 if not Grade 8 for good strength.

    flatbed trailer question

Art, check my post history. There's a setup I did for my truck running electric brakes on a civilian trailer. There are Military trailers but they're pretty heavy duty for the size. they're in 5 and 7 ton sizes with 2 axles but not much bigger than a standard equipment trailer and they'd need...

tapping the deuce's fuel tank for a generator

what's the fuel system on the genset? Because you could end up with back flow up the return from the main engine's fuel return line.

5 Ton Semi tractors and trailers?

That phelan is really just an example. We're still in the planning and scoping out stage. There's umm, 5 of us that have 6 vehicles owned collectively or singly. Having something to move all 6 in a gaggle of three trucks would be VERY useful. One member has a farm so we'll have plenty of space...

5 Ton Semi tractors and trailers?

So I'm thinking this slightly abused Phelan might work. Looks like it's been over loaded in the rear though. I can't tell if that's the camera or not. Bit of welding, some new 383 Green paint and it'd make a good MV trailer I think. 28' WELL, 3' BEAVER TAIL, 5' RAMPS, 5' SLOPE UP TO 10' TOP...

5 Ton Semi tractors and trailers?

As far as trailers go, something like that Wallace would be nice, but it doesn't have to be as nice. We'll have several people able to turn wrenches at one of our guy's farms making it FAR easier to get the trailer up to snuff. We're only looking at less than 20 tons with three vehicles. (the...

5 Ton Semi tractors and trailers?

Oh, as you can see, I'm kind of thinking that one of the trucks should be a standard wheel base cargo converted to a semi-tractor so we can add a rear facing winch and handle recoveries of our vehicles easier. If something needs to be hauled onto a trailer, I want it to be as simple as possible...

5 Ton Semi tractors and trailers?

Yeah, something like that would be good, but we'd need to add ramps. Though we could get some and weld them on. Ideally we're going to try to make up two to three trucks like this so we can move all our own vehicles and not have to worry about getting a trucker to make the moves. It'll be more...

5 Ton Semi tractors and trailers?

so, I'm starting to examine the type of truck and trailer for our gaggle of guys in the PA area for our armored vehicle transport. We'll have x3 7 ton armored cars, and some smaller 4-5 ton vehicles. Same as the deuce for my dingo, I'm thinking a 5 ton semi tractor would be good for the...

Is this Lock rim ok to remove from truck?

Out of round is a problem. The slight twist runs into good alignment just fine when mounted. You can carefully bend them back if they're not badly bent up. The steel has some flex in it. The out of round is a problem because it'll be easy to come un-zipped at one point and go all the way around...

tapping the deuce's fuel tank for a generator

Usually you can get the feel for it when you're tightening it up. There's also the plug on the top of the fuel pump on the deuce, 1/4" I think. You could tap from there for your generator set possibly.

    railroad picture

Canada's doing a pretty good job of getting them settled and converted to being canadians. It's an uphill battle but Canada's shown that they're good at uphill battles when it counts. see Vimy Ridge and Dieppe for an example.

    rear axle outer seal opinions

The inner seal doesn't do well for keeping the oil in. It's really designed to keep water out.

    Washing CARC paint??

Bear in mind that DS2 is basically a bleach solution. I think it's effectively part standard household bleach, 10 parts water. At least that's what a friend in the chemical corps told me a few years ago.

No CDL/Antique plates- Driving to other states.

There's a couple of SC DOT guys that know me now from going through their station at I85. They pulled me the first time to gab about the truck and complement me on a cool ride. This past Feb when I wen through again, I got a red light for the scales so the operator could say "Hi!" and ask how...
