Re: Geneva Conventions
BFD. Does anyone think that Hezballah is playing by Geneva Convention Rules? Ask them what happened to the Israeli soldiers they "captured". Anyone seen from them since? :x
I made up three pieces of carpet using outdoor deck carpet for the cab. One over the hump and two on the floor plans holding it down. I have to reach down and flip a part up to get access to the winch plate, but it's otherwise good. It helps with the airflow up through the cab through all the...
Jim it will work that way, but batteries charge based on their charge staten and the amount of resistance. That resistance changes as you change charge state AND that means the amount of charge it needs changes. When you're charging two batteries in series, the amperage of current going though...
Well, for $100 bucks, it's pretty darn good for major frame/driveline components that I can rebuild. The body...well. Good for scrap or patching. That's it.
Here's the jeep as it came home. I've not done anything to it. The body is so bad that rather than waste time on it with wrenches, I'm probably going to use a saws all around major parts to get the rear tub off. The Front tub is going to last a little longer as the hood and such are in better...
actually that H and modified H pattern drive setup has the differential side to side on all vehicles from the Daimler Dingo, The Daimler Armored Car, the Ferret, Saladin, Saracen, Stalwart, Salamander, Fox and Vixen. the Diff is in the transfer case between sides of the the output. So right side...
Be careful about unloading all the drive line and just using the rear wheels to drive the whole thing. You're placing all the weight and force on the two rear bevels and prop shafts and they could fail badly. Ferret folk thought of doing this by removing the front drive axles to get just a 4x2...
I dried my 2nd tank after rinsing it with water to get loose crud out of it after it sat for a year and dried out. I used a catalytic heater aimed at the outside to heat up the metal and warm it up.
Pay particular attention to the nitrogen charged system.
You've seen the accounts and stories on Dougs Heavy Metal Gallery right?

I've read that tracks tended to be a touch longer for two reasons.
Counteracting road crown and of course track stretch, one was slightly more worn than the other and needed an extra link taken out.
Now, bear in mind it could ALSO be because of the torsion bar arrangement on the 250/251/810...
Of course this all goes out the window with convoy ops at night with out NVG's or before they were issued (say like WWII). The Blackout light on my Dingo has the hooded aperture and has a flap that allows a front facing aperture to be opened.
the British also illuminated the white painted rear...
