    Oval thingy below the bed

could those lifting arms have been originally for loading the trucks while the trucks themselves were loaded?

    What's this? Dave?

RE: Re: What It's being looked at by one of my armored car owning buddies in our WWII Re-enacting unit. We'd all like to have period looking US, Canadian or British trucks for hauling our vehicles to Events and something that'll be capable too. I'm leaning towards our owning a couple of large...

    Sleeper cab on a deuce?

The S250 could be modified with drawers/bins in the cutouts for storage (battery compartments?) and allow for the space you want and easy removal.

A few Pics from the DMZ

Check is location. He's at the Joint Security Area on the DMZ in Korea. Google that. It's an interesting place where people get killed for cutting tree limbs. RE the FMTV's their problem is they're built to be Air Portable. The Army is still wed to this idea of being able to move divisions...

    Oval thingy below the bed

The only time they'd really be used is for loading the trucks onto shops. They're probably a General Support end use item for the big logistics folks and most likely only seen sitting way in the back of a particular parts truck. With RO-RO the rule of thumb now for ship loading it's doubtful...

Removing the fan and replacing with electric fans

Squirttruck has an electric fan in his 5 ton. HE carries the parts for the belt driven fan system in his tool box so he can revert if need be on the road.

Anyone set up a Medium Maintenance Tent?

I'd love to have one but they're not cheap for a "tent".

    Deuce Operating Temps

Interestingly, my Dingo has a blanking panel that the driver can fit to keep the temperature up in cold weather. It has a large radiator for the size of engine and that can make it hard to keep the engine up to temperature in very cold weather. Even the intake manifold has a cooling/warming...

    Deuce Operating Temps

Seems like you could make a shutter out of two pieces of sheet metal. One slides, one stays fixed. Or with the plywood cover, add some angle brackets and make several panels that can be slid open or closed with a pin to keep them in place.

    Sleeper cab on a deuce?

I'd second the idea for an S250 box in the bed at the front. You could potentially hack the shelter and cab so you could get between the two with out having to get out and go around.

Deuce with winch snatch block ???

Kenny are those sheave pulleys wrong for the 1/2 wire rope? It's the 5 ton rated shackle though. Of course, ideally one should convert to the amsteel blue rope that bends tighter and doesn't store energy. $700 for a enough for the duece though. So it isn't cheap. It's a hell of a lot easier to...

My truck has some very nice goretex seat covers in OD. I'm not sure where they came from though. Joe Sheaffer may know.

Overhaulin a CNN H1 (or lipstick on a hog)

So CNN (Eason Jordan really) bought two HMMWVs for the second gulfwar drive to Bagdad for our Iraq news crews, one H1 one and ex military HMMWV. The H1 spent most of its time being towed because the fuel system or something crapped out. Both vehicles were brought back to the US last year and...

    Parking Lights

RE: Front parking lights Ken that will work, but, when you turn on the parking lights mode, the rear lights will be powered as well through the secondary circuit too. It should just be parallel paths though.
