    alternative steering options the deuce

Garrison advertises that they will custom make an S shaped end for the valve to keep it parallel. They really offer ALL of the parts to do this swap. About Garrison Manufacturing 800-203-1894 Yes, I have called and talked to tech support over the summer. I decided not to go with their...

Pulling tractor with a deuce engine

The block won't hold up; #6 breaks off. One tractor puller is using a billet block. Too much $$ when a 5.9 is an easy swap.

    alternative steering options the deuce

Just want to point out that these valves came with two different size ball studs. Garrison told me that they can supply (machine) ball studs to mate the valves to the deuce steering components. That way you woulnd't have to weld things together.

Converting the multi-fuel to pure diesel...

If you need an engineer with experience, hire an engineer with experience (and expect to pay accordingly). It is extremely naive to expect a new hire to be well versed in everything. College teaches the basics of applied science; the details are aquired on the job. If you are not happy with...

    lds 427 headgasket questions

Take a look at page 49 of "Troubleshooting Manual LDS-465 1 Multifuel Manual" which talks about head gaskets for the LDS-427-2.

lds wastegate turbo on an M35

I did the swap over the long weekend. The turbo clears the starter solenoid in its stock position by about 3/8". I am sure that it would be better to clock the starter but there was no apparent heating of the starter (cool to the touch after running down the road) The LDT oil supply line...

Converting the multi-fuel to pure diesel...

Broadly speaking internal combustion engines are either spark or compression ignition (diesel). Lacking spark plugs, it would appear that the "multifuel" is a compression ignition engine . The efficiency of the "multifuel" would be increased with the lower compression ratio but it...

    bolt on power steering kit

The garrison system is still supported but parts are very expensive. A new valve is $1200. A benefit of the HF54 box is that you have fewer turns lock to lock. The conversion required very few modifications and is essentially a bolt on mod.

So I had this crazy idea, how about this for an engine for my A3...

75 mph in SD but most drive 80 mph.

    bolt on power steering kit

The hydraulic assist (ie. HF54 box and Garrison system) is fail safe against fluid loss.

    LDS 465 1a rebuild or repower ?

I realize that the sleeves are a slip fit. However, the looser they are, the poorer the heat transfer is going to be. I belive that there have been some comments on the tractor fourums about this being a problem. This company offers a 5 thou larger sleeve which they recommend for rebuild...

    LDS 465 1a rebuild or repower ?

There is an oversize (OD) liner to fix this problem.

Another source for the new multifuel head gaskets

http://www.hdengineparts.com/Gasket-Cylinder-Head-5818.htm The part number (5818) matches the new style that I have. I have not done business with the above company.

    Flex fuel in a multi-Fuel...?

I've got a paper at home that specifically addresses the use of alcohol in the multifuel. The take away is that it isn't recommended. I'll post a copy of the paper when I get home. I've had ZERO issues with 10% alcohol in 1940s to 2000s gasoline vehicles.

Why is taking 12v from one batt bad?

To put it in a little clearer terms. Your battery will have an open circuit voltage (ie. nothing connected to it) somewhere between 12.6 and 13.0V. If in use the voltage at the battery terminals is less than the open circuit voltage, current (and energy) is leaving the battery. Conversely, if...

Why is taking 12v from one batt bad?

You have to look at this a little more carefully before stating that it will invariabley shorten the life of the battery. If your load is small enough that it does not cause the voltage on that battery to drop below 14V (or whatever is half your alternator's voltage) it will not affect the...

Agreed but this should hold true for other diesel engines, too.

    FDC fuel efficiency

Here are some numbers: 8V92: 0.345 BSFC minimum at 1700 RPM, for an efficiency of roughly 39.8%. 0.355 BSFC at rated horsepower, for an efficiency of roughly 38.7%. Series-60: 0.311 BSFC minimum at 1550 RPM, for an efficiency of roughly 44.2%. 0.315 BSFC at rated horsepower, for an...
