Mine leaked like you wouldn't believe.
I haven't yet had a new set made, I went the cheaper route for the time being and bought high pressure oil resistant hose and cut the old factory hose off. Doing this, you'll have to use good hose clamps, but for me, it's just temporary.
You can see...
Check the cooler lines that come off the block, they are located right above the filter housing. The fittings that go into the block are pipe thread, but over time they tend to work themselves loose. The cooler line nut also tends to work loose or could also have a bad O-ring.
The only thing...
It's really a matter of what you are doing with the truck vs. what you feel comfortable paying to mod it out and how far you want to go.
The TH400 is a pretty strong and very reliable trans even in stock form, but sadly missing a 4th gear. You can keep the TH400 and go with a Gear Vendors...
I'm not a Pinz guy, but I believe that is a 712M, but I'm not 100% sure that is the only model that has tandem axle rear. Most of the one's I see are usually 4 wheels. Most if the Unimogs I see are 6 wheel, but I assume it's the same, some models are 4 some are 6.
Went to my 1st car show where I was actually bringing a vehicle instead of just looking at them. The city nearby, El Cajon, has a car show every Wednesday and today was Military Tribute Day, so one of the guys who sponsors/volunteers wanted me to bring my MV, so I did.
It was kind of nice, I...
Let your alternators run a bit under fast idle.
There is probably nothing wrong with your alternators, they are just charging the batteries from when it wasn't before. The driver's side belt is somewhat a pain (at least for me) to tighten, so at normal idle you will have a red Gen 1 light and...
It's your rig and obviously we can't tell you what to do with it, but are you sure this is the right vehicle for your project? Every audio or anything automotive demo I have seen typically uses and more modern platform to showcase their wares. Not to say a M1010 can't be made to do it, but...
Appreciate that, I saw that post and was wondering if you had posted that for me, before reading this. Thanks, I really do appreciate it.
I took some time in between diagnosis to work on the 5-ton today, nothing major, just some touch up paint in places.
But I did breakdown and buy a coolant...
To tell you the truth, Not sure. I have faith in my parts guy that he got me the right one, been going to him for over 15 years.
I have a v-belt driven water pump and I believe they are clockwise rotation and the serpentine belt types are the reverse direction (counter-clockwise) like what...
Back when I was a tech, I used to have a pressure testing kit, I may go and buy another one, who knows.
I tested for exhaust gases in the cooling system with a fluid tester that changes from blue to green when exhaust gases are present, kind of like a smog sniffer.
Looks like this:
The...
Thanks for the info CUCVRUS, I think I was looking for validation and or a 2nd opinion before doing major surgery. I have a strong feeling that you are correct either about the heads/gaskets or both, since every other check I have done seems to have turned up nothing. The heads I cannot check...
Yes, popping is probably the best term that I would use, or splitting.
This is one of the 1st heater cores that split/popped, right at the seam between the hose connections. The other heater cores all have been core leaks between the fins where it meets the header.
I know what you are saying...
Okay all you CUCVer's out there who have replaced their stock original radiators with the new style aluminum with plastic side tanks.
I have been having a problem that seems to have stemmed from the point at which I replaced my original copper/brass radiator with a newer aluminum radiator with...
Welcome and :ditto: what Marcus said.
Depending on the condition and if it has been mod'ed or not, don't let it get over complicated. The forum here is full of people with good experience and tips.
If you have to ask a question, try looking through the TM's so you wind up kicking yourself...
If adding a capacitor to it doesn't stop the whining then it could be a bad diode in the diode trio inside the alternator, hopefully not.
The diodes changes the AC into DC but if you're hearing radio noise like the whining you stated, it may be one or more of the diodes breaking down allowing...
Tore my intake boot a while back and tried to do a half-a** repair but it wasn't happening. I have a new respect for 20 mil tape though.
Purchased a new 5" 90° rubber intake boot proudly made in the USA (if you can believe that), from a local vendor who also does all sorts of rubber and hose...
