You're probably right in your gauge or sender being off a bit. Those are indeed breather tubes, for things like the air brake, trans, etc. If your filter temp is solid at 200, that's probably your best indicator of your trans temp since it SHOULD be from the hottest part of the tranny.
If I...
Hey Jaymcb,
Totally know how you feel. Been there, done that. If all your tires are at the same pressure then your CTIS main body is probably off on pressure. Something else you said though might have a small bearing on it. My air pressure runs consistently at 110-120 psi. If you don't...
I'm using a set off the m105 trailer. Hangars are from the front of a deuce though. Ride is good, and the rear end is WAY too light even for the 105 springs. The box from the 105 is so light compared to stock, I have to load up the back end with a tire, couple of hundred pounds of old parts...
Can I throw in 2 more cents?
You really want to run your hydraulics off the engine. If you run it off the pto, you have to fab up your own lever to get around the shift tower. You also have to get a pto pump, and remember to disengage the transfer case. With a pump on the engine (pulley or...
Now that's a funny thought. I can see it in my head.
"Lets have a fight with the Marine Corps, Captain."
"That wouldn't be fair Sergeant, we outnumber them 5 to 1."
"I see your point sir. Can we get the air force to help us out?"
Glad to see you got your deuce! That axle might be just a bit unhappy! I'd bet at least one of your brake lines was crushed, check near the axles, front and back. Usually towing it or fork lifting it will end up doing that. Great looking truck!
I should just go with! Ok, another 2 cents. Your soft top is well insulated, and if its in good shape fab up a roof rack using some cast iron pipes. Then you can load it up for travel, or cover it for snow load/ insulation. Poles attach to the back of the cab and passenger front of...
lol. your mileage may vary- translates to your experience may be different.
Yep, agreed on the triangular shape, mine were true round o rings. Bit thicker, but sold black o rings.
Oh, that's the kicker. You need a huge torque wrench, probably 3/4" or 1". The 1/2" wrenches I see go to about...
I'm thinking more and more your transmission fluid is warmed up going into the engine radiator and cooled off in the trans radiator. In any event, since it's no where near warm here, my trans routinely runs in the 125 range. pulling 8k trailer, up to 250, never more and I'm running 15/40.
If...
Ok, changed the seals in my leaky wheel. With the 0.210 diameter (McMaster) versus the 0.205 diameter(milspec), the wheel finally sealed up nicely. Part number 9452K491. Might help you out.
Tire and o-ring update.
After getting 4 new rims, I put 395's on the m35a3. With a few hundred miles on them now, I can report that I LOVE driving the truck on the freeway. I had 5 great working rims, and two with leaks that were still being problematic. That got solved today with new buna n...
I had the same problem with the xrings I got! We had better check and see if there is another part number for them. Fortunately all my xrings were good, but I'm thinking I'm going to need some sooner or later.
Hey 1 Patriot of many,
On your inner seal, it's pretty easy to replace. It's just a o ring, and you can get them from mcmaster carr. I'll see if I can find the part number, but I think I got them from a search here.
But I don't think that's what's pressuring your axles. That seal, if bad...
Welcome to the party! Here's two cents. Did your transmission temp go up with your engine coolant temp? I think the valve that operates the fan is connected to the engine coolant. You will definitely hear the fan "engage" at temp, since it sounds like a jet engine. It "spins" all the time...
I'm sorry to hear that your truck is not a happy camper.
My quick two cents? I don't think the flow through the radiator is for cooling, I think it's for heating the transmission fluid to operating temps, but that's just my guess. I would love to find out if there is a bypass for it when hot...
hmm. let me throw one more thing in here. I just looked up the NSN of the orings I got to replace the ones in my tires (spares). According to that, the oring is .020 inches wide and 19.0 inches around. I suspect then if we go to a 19 inch .025 oring, we might get better seals. Guess what...
