Went to check out an M108 bed.

It looks like you have run into the "Golden Crap" rule with this guy. Everything he owns is golden even if it is crap.

What about military tow-behind crane for a deuce?

IF it's for sale, PM me, I might be interested.

    New M1009 problems

Do you have other running vehicles? Get TWO and use TWO sets of jumper cables, one from each vehicle to each battery of the m1009) to jump start it. BTW, can you hear the glow plug relay click when you turn the ignition to ON? If you have fuel flow (get a quart of diesel booster to clean...

how to tell sprag or air?

That little lever is for the front axle engage. Left to engage, right to disengage. The steering is hard because you have manual steering (aka Armstrong steering) on a big heavy truck. Advice? Either start working out or get an air assist kit.

    New M1009 problems

If you have two vehicles and two sets of jumper cables, you can jump it while you crank. Just hook one vehicle up to each battery.

    New guy...should I buy a m1009/8?

    1. Not really. The only thing that is 24v is the starter. 2. Depends on how handy you are with mechanics. You will have to either relocate the rear battery or convert to a 12 vdc starter with a single battery. The mechanical parts are a direct bolt in. The electrical parts will be up to ou...

    Deuce recovery from Ft. Knox

That is a LOOOOOONG way in a deuce. I see you are from Milan near Berlin (pronounced Bur-len). Spent several months in Lancaster and Groveton several years ago helping install a co-generation (electricity and steam) at the Groveton Paper Mill. I drover around a bit just to see the area. I...

HELP, need a CUCV for winter.

Put your truck up on craigslist, too. If you don't get any offers for your ATV, you can pretty much determine that it is too high.

    Just bought my first m1008

It's a heavy truck with low gearing. I would guess that you will be lucky to get 15 mpg out of it. BTW, 50-55 is about as fast as it will go.

US to transfer HMMWVS to Iraq

To paraphrase the immortal words of Sgt. Hulka from "Stripes", "Lighten up with that hummer, Snarky." We don't need snobs, here.

    DeuceTtranny Problem

I'm no transmission expert but I would look for something jammed in between the synchronizer and the gearing. Perhaps a bit of metal from a chipped gear.

    Chattering GP Relay - Cause?

Try putting a diode across the small leads. Get a 1N4007 (a general purpose diode from Radio Shack but almost any 1N400? will work). Install it with the anode (the side with the line) to the + side of the relay.

Anyone else see that torpedo boat?

Because we don't have a torpedo boat section?

Real Man toys are good people!

They could have bought advertising space and been welcomed. They could even have posted on pages where people were stating needs.

    Get a 3/4" impact wrench.

    I got a m1009

You can get thermostats at any parts store. When they ask which engine code tell them "J". J is the code for all military CUCVs.

Deuce shopping, what are the best options?

The soft tops work pretty good to keep cold out. But your best bet is to get boots for the shifter and the transfer case hi-lo lever. Get something to seal the front windows, they are notorious for leaking. The side windows generally do not fit well, either.
