Gimpy, I never said it would stop a thief, only slow them down.
Most car thieves work on a very tight schedule. They don't want to spend 5 or 10 minutes figuring out what's keeping a vehicle from starting; they just want to gain access and be on their way.
Besides, if I figured out a way to...
I'm running a Bendix AD-9 on the baby HEMTT and am happy with it. It has an automatic purge on compressor start and stop, and a built-in heater. It's also practically eliminated to need to drain the reservoirs daily and brake line icing is a thing of the past.
Jeez, is there a full moon out? You east coasters sure seem like an excitable lot.
I came up with a lock-out for the shut-down cable t-handle a while back and gave the forming dies to Polverone. Contact him and see if he's making them to sell. (Also good as a safety lock-out so you don't have...
Check on what it takes to drive one in your state; CDL?, insurance--Gateway is great, keeping neighbors happy about the army moving in next door...
Once you've covered your bases, plan on becoming addicted to the deuce. It's one of those things that you can't imagine ever needing until you get...
Great restoration job! Definately due to your attention to detail.
The more unusual vehicles definately have a place of their own. There are thousands of Model Ts out there for every Model T ambulance.
The bottles are standard with sizes dependant on cubic foot capacity.
For yet another color possibility; I've seen O.D. tanks with the tops (where the tank goes from straight walled to domed w/ valve) painted white for oxygen and yellow for acetelyne.
These "hide" a little better than the...
The Chrysler and Dodge flat-head sixes have this thing called a Water Distribution Tube. It runs down the inside of the block from the backside of the water pump back and carries water to the rear cylinders so that it circulates completely through the engine, not just around the first 2 or 3...
Rear axles on their own spring sets would allow you to place them any distance apart the frame length (and overhead obstructions) would allow. Just remember that the current deuce rear axle configuration is there to give additional flexibility over rough terrain and that you'd be sacrificing...
True Lee. The sleeve is there mostly to provide extra wall thickness. That's why you want to guard against hardening them further in the welding process.
The mention of not using water pipe is because a lot of the steel coming from overseas is beyond sub-standard.
EMP is bad for solid-stste equip like transistors and IC 'chips'. IF the equip is running at the time, as I understand it. Not sure about voltage regulator diodes.
Since EMP's are invisible, tasteless, odorless, silent ( the pulse, not the nuclear blast that generates them ), and have no...
I've never seen one of the original MWO kits but have worked around steel for a few years so...
The sleeves should be a good grade of medium to high carbon steel; not necessarily 4140 chrome-moly, just not water pipe.
The kit sleeves may even be seamless. Extra work but these could be made out...
All the one-piece rims I've seen so far are civilian app.
As stiff as military tires are, I'd hate to try and wrestle one onto a one-piece rim.
The flat disc center makes it sound like they're custom.
See if you can find a Blacksmith shop in your area or a structural steel outfit.
Rivets have pretty much been phased out in favor of bolt-together or weldment assys. but some of the older outfits may still have the means.
We usually end up grinding our own sets and bucks for the oddball head...
A flame-based heat source is going to have some safety considerations; CO build-up can carry into inhabited areas if conditions are right, fire hazard if too close to combustables.
I'd probably think in terms of an enclosure for the heater and forced induction of the hot air to the area you want...
I guess I've been looking at my rank(ing) all wrong. The first thing that came to MY mind was 'Jeez, do I really chatter like a magpie this much?'
And how will we distinguish a mechanic smiley from a post whore smiley? They both spend a lot of time on their backs.
I always figure that I'd really appreciate it if someone came along and helped out one of my kinfolks so I too refuse money; just ask that they return the favor by helping out if they ever see someone who needs a hand.
To heck with "carbon credits"-- "kindness credits" are what we could use...
