it is real easy and cheap to install a np205 on a 700r4, you will need to find an np205 from a turbo 350 with the adapter and sleeve. then you will need a spacer between the trans and transfer case adapter, here is the link http://www.areds.com/ call them up and tell them you need the 2 inch...
As Speddmon mentioned he used some parts from bowtieoverdrive, for those of you that doubt the strength of the 700r4 they can build one that will handle over 1000 hp. they have a video on there website of a 1/2 ton chevy pullin a wheely and running 9 sec. quarter mile. for over a year with out...
I have done several of the swaps, one had an NP205 installed to the 700r4, customer was very happy! As for tire spin, with the low stall convertor and lower first gear, mine will do a burnout if I hold brakes. Glad to see someone else has had great success with this swap. For others that want...
If your worried about breakage, there is a company out there that took the hard parts from a 4l65E and stuffed them in the 700r4, they used the 700r4 valve body for a fully hydraulic trans ( no electronics) that is extremely stout, according to there web site it can handle up to 1200 HP, there...
I think the 700r4 is the better option over all. The gear venders is to expensive and parts are not cheap, the 4l80E is kinda pricey to get (unless you find one in a junkyard cheap) and the computer to control it is almost $1000 dollars..........ouch! I can pick up good 700r4's all day long...
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/73275-friends-truck-conversion-turbo-400-np208-too-700r4-np205.html Here is the build I did, also have a 700r4 in my truck as well. I am finishing up the tv cable brackets, should have some for sale soon.
I was running about 50% WMO for about 3 months, didn't have any damage but had a loss of power, the WMO doesn't have as many btu's available so not as much power as diesel, if running more than 10% (thats what I am running now) you will need a turbo, a naturally aspirated diesel can't burn the...
in 80 or 81 can't remember they did convert the 350 to a diesel till 83 but it didn't go over very well, so they went back to the drawing board and came up with the 6.2 in 84. The earlier versions barely made it of the show room floor without breaking (the 350 version)!
A lot of aftermarket companies out there too that have them! http://quad4x4.com/ - http://www.advanceadapters.com/ - http://www.ringpinion.com/ - http://www.drivetrain.com/ - http://www.4xheaven.com/ - http://www.justdifferentials.com/ -...
Detroit locker!!! Much simpler, its heavy duty, no special fluid needed!!! If turning is an issue or sliding all over the road, just unlock one hub.....whaaaallaaaa!
Thank you very much, yes I did look at TM's but wasn't sure. As for search, I wasn't finding the correct threads might not have been giving correct search words.
what about the gears in the main part of the case, I have a friend with an air shift transfer case, the big gear on the idler shaft busted, A ss member has a case but it is manual shift. Trying to find out if the gears inside the main part of the case are the same, I know the front out put...
Up you will need a new flexplate, also will need to change the input shaft on the np203 box to a 27 spline and get a different trans to transfer case adapter. I am working on getting brackets made for the tv cable will keep informed. The tv cable rod that attaches to the pump can be bought at...
