Probably not a good idea to "snag" anything that doesn't belong to the lot you won. That's a real sore subject here...a guy goes and previews a lot he wants to bid on, wins it, and then things are missing when he goes to pick it up.
Not trying to be rude, but there are countless threads about insurance for Deuces, and has been covered ad naseum. Grab a cold, frosty adult beverage and do a search for insurance, plenty of reading.

Tail Light...Wire #21...Pin E...Brown
Right Signal/Brake...Wire #22-461...Pin B...Green
Left Signal/Brake...Wire #22-460...Pin J...Yellow
Ground...Wire #90...Pin D...White.

It's the governor for the air compressor, it tells the air compressor when to turn on and off. Buy a new one...they're cheap. Personally I don't think they are worth trying to repair.
How about a coat of clear lacquer? That may seal in the fibers. Mix up some resin and catalyst and apply a thin coat, that would definitely cure the problem. Make some cool OD Canvas padded seat covers for your rider's sensitive tushes.
That little box is for the same reason as the square holes in the M105 trailer...just to drive us nuts and make us ask questions. You have your work cut out for you John, it will keep you out of trouble for awhile. :-P
