I was going to post this little event Monday night, but I did not get any photos and you know how this crowd is. If you do not have a picture, then it did not happen... okay, maybe we are not quite that bad....
Monday night my telephone rings, whomever it was hung up before I could answer. That...
My 71 is not charging. We have a 813 with a huge hole in the block. At first glance, the alternators look the same, just on different mounting brackets. Do any of you guys with experience know for sure if they interchange? Thanks! Glen
Did you try using a small punch or chisel to turn the broken bolt out? Frequently you can just use a pointed object to remove the broken bolt. They are not bottomed out in the hole and they have lots of vibrations working on them. I have removed a few now and they seem to die from the load...
Here are some of the ones I was involved in...

I signed up for PayPal, trying to keep my credit cards from being compromised. For some reason it seldom works, so I go to the bank and send a cashier's check Priority Mail Friday after work... Glen
The relief valve must be stuck or have the wrong spring. Instead of bleeding the excess back into the tank it is hyper pressurizing the hydraulics. I am not sure how the newer pumps are set up, but we used to stretch the old springs to get more pressure for large tires or use a low tension...
I fixed two cut instrument panel wiring harnesses. Bled the brakes on two trucks, one was a waste of time as it had a weak flex line, which I replaced, but the master cylinder leaks and the air pack vents brake fluid. I have a new master cylinder coming, the air pack I am not so sure about. I...
I had a NAPCO converted 58 Chevy with a spotlight mounted center of the roof on the front edge, tallest point on the truck. I smacked it on a low hanging tree branch and thought the cab was being ripped off, damage was minimal, but sure did not sound that way. Thanks for the friendly reminder. Glen
Mine spins cold with shaft in place. I can stop it with my hand and it is slow enough not to be felt in the cab, unlike the vibration and hum it makes while engaged. Glen
Kansas antique tags are wonderful! I do not move an uninsured vehicle. We have 30 days to transfer a license plate. I have a couple of old antique tags I use. Trucks older than 35 years only need a bill of sale to title. The GL paperwork is good enough. So, I insure them, sometimes slap on an...
I am wishing I had a non turbo deuce for driving around town. That turbo cool down time when you make a two mile hop is a bummer. I always wanted a C or whistler, until I drove one. I was over that screaming thing in about 15 miles. I could fire up the whistler, walk over a block from home and...
Mine beat 17 on the last tank. We went to Riley to recover two deuces, the 45 mph road speed is where the huge increase lied. In my experience, you pay a heavy toll for speeds over 45. I usually drive around 48 and get 15 to16 on the road. 10 to 12 in all city driving, worse on winter fuel. Glen
One of my new to me deuces had no headlight action. Checked the bulbs and both were bad. Went out and pulled the bulbs out of three five tons. I found two good ones out of the eight bulbs I had available. Have to checked for power at the headlamp socket?

Page 1201, but they are very difficult to follow, you will soon learn that about every wire in your truck is solid gray and 14 Gauge. About the only way to figure it out is to power back from the source. I would check the...
