I read your past post about the shim but if I remember right you machined the shim yourself, I don't have the talent/tools to do that so I'm hoping the new/different seal works
I still have one hot hub in the back that I've done everything but change out the seal ( to a different brand ) so I ordered Timkin made seal from Memphis ( $10.50 ) and will be installing that when it arrives in the next day or so and I will report back. For the record I have new bearings and...
The flange that your talking about is a seam that connects the top of the rad to the core half.
If you have any solder experience than drain down the tank , smear some solder flux around the pin hole then heat it up with a propane torch until the exsisting solder remelts/forms over the pinhole (...
Or you might want to go this route ( less than $50 )

I'm changing out my oil pan gasket being I can see the oil leaking out around it as its running. Someone had the pan off before and I believe they put it back together with just rtv so I bought a pan gasket from Memphis Equipt ( $26 including ship ) and I'll being changing that out today (...
I drilled 4, 1/4" holes in the beds of both my deuces ( 18" off both sides of center line ) ran some bolts through them and attached some chain and pulled them off and back on with my front loader "Christine"
Getting ready to drop the pan and install a new gasket on my A2, being there seems to be only rtv there now., Other then a general look around is there anything specific to these engines I should check, change ( retorque?) while I have it off.
Incase there still someone out there thats not sick to death of this thread yet!... I took my deuce to its first show today ( a annual Hit & miss, Tractor and old car show about 8 miles from me ). Still need to get Data plates and decals ( and cargo top and boarding ladder and...) but here some...
Of course there were alot of SS'ers there being the only real advertising the Gmvpa did was here on this site, if they had advertised in the mil magazines they might have gotten a more diverse ( aka respectable  ) crowd of Mv'ers. Mil Jeep owners are in a class/world all by themselves...
I'm starting to think its more then just a tight seal, I readjusted the bearings put in another seal ( same brand though ) drove her about 5 mile and that hub was 25° hotter then the rest, I don't think a tight seal would cause that kind of temp difference in that short of miles. I did notice...

What did you use for a spacer?
I was gonna grind the tabs off one of the old nut locks and try that
I did all brakes and seals on my deuce and the left rear is running about 15° hotter then the other rears which is funny as that was the same hub that ran hot on my last ( untouched)...
Welcome
Heck Kenny ( Recovery 4x4 ) is not to far from you...kinda. Bought my car trailer in okeechobee ( 1998 ) Flew my first cross country there to ( 1990).....**** I'm getting old:(
Did this on my last deuce and as soon as I pick up 2 red lens markers I'll be doing it on my current deuce along with wiring the front ( amber) park lights to come on with the headlights
