The deep water fording kits have a air valve to pressureise the bellhousing, tranny, t-case and axles through the vents. The regulator is set at 2psi. Good for about 4 feet of water. It then vents into the crankcase vent tube that somes off of the valve covers. One could make thier own set up...
Turbos operate from heat. Not exaust gas flow. To get a turbo to spool up faster you have to add more heat, or decrease restance to rotation. This is usally done by using a smaller compressor wheel. Exaust gas expansion in the turbine housing is what forces the turbine to spin. If you decrease...
Warren i bought a front wiring harness from saturn. Everything appears to be the same as the old one. All the connectors were a perfect match. Are you talking about the newer plastic turn signal lever? I have a few copies or the wiring diagram. If you like i could send you one.
My biggest worry would be, snapping a driveshaft, Or u-joint. Or mabye scattering the clutch. IF you loose the one between the tranny and t-case, It could result in your death!!! Be careful only you know what your truck will or won't take.
I used the plug that is up by the #1 cylinder. It wasen't fun removing it. I used some kroil oil to help get it loose. I used the adapter that came with my probe. I'll look and see if i can find you a part #.
The cost of buing both trucks is some what close. But the cost in fuel is a different story. If you can handle feeding a 5 ton go for it, but if you drive a 2.5 ton reasonably you can get well over 10mpg.
Bjorn, You mentioned that you switched to WVO at 70 deg F. Do you know what the min temp is to run WVO? In the summer here it rarely gets below 75 to 80 here. Would that be warm enough to run WVO with out switching back to diesel? Or would the fats solidfy in the IP? Also when warming the...
Has anyone rebuilt the steering box? The manual said you have to unbolt the engine and move it over to get it out. Has anyone tried it? I'm thinking of going through it still in the frame. That's if i can get the pitman arm shaft out.
Talked to the D-CRAB last night. He should be back tonight. He tells me he slowed down to 45MPH and it now getting 11.5 MPG. Not bad pulling a trailor.
I just swapped to a drop side, And almost lost a finger or two while i was at it. My T-seats and headache rack fit just fine. The bows should work also. The dropside bow corners have a swivile latch on them. Using non dropside bows, you would have to take everything loose to lower a side. But i...
It's possable for these engines to run backwards, But it's not something you want to do. The oil pump is running backwards also. Sucking oil from the bearings instead of feeding them. As far as the gasoline goes, I don't think that was a factor. Gas has less BTU's than diesel and will give you...
