Your dist has a wobble?
I once tried to use a o-ring gasket for the base of my dist that I got from VPW and it made it wobble so I went a found the correct cork flat gasket and that fixed it
OR.. Do you have the correct military dist & oil pump or are they civie units?, the military dist/oil...
The single nozzle on the LDS-465-1 was superceded back in 1968, my Continental LDS trouble shooting manual (1968 ) on page 25, states that upon inspection if one finds single nozzle tips ( one hole) that this "MUST BE CORRECTED" by installing 2 hole, so I'll "Assume" this also applies to the LDT
My duece LDT also has the 2 hole ( I just replaced one)., 2 hole injectors were a upgade and superceded the single hole ones, same goes for the LDS engine
Thanks Doug but I didn't do that truck
I bought her that way which probably is why I only kept her for less than a year before selling it to a good friend of mine as ( for my own sick reasons) theres nothing like having bragging rights from doing your own work
I think what may be confusing here is the output rating that the military puts on these units.,As I understand it, these units don't put out 80% of what they're rated for!, the mil has them only rated for 80% of what they really can put out, this way they'll have a 100% duty cycle running AT...
If you getting 27.4v at the batts your fine, something must be wrong with you guage as I get 27.5v at my batts and the guage needle sits right in that little box in the green zone
Actually there was a benefit to pulling the frt housing as I was checking things out I did not like the way the frt drive bearing felt/turned so I ended up swapping housings with my other T/C case as that bearing spun real nice. I did look through the hole before pulling the front housing and I...
[thumbzup]
Yes G nailed it
but I would have never noticed the backward piston if I hadn't started from the inside out of the frt case as I was convinced it was something more drastic like a bent fork, broken set screw, alien abduction....
OK
Its fixed
I dropped the T/C and pulled the frt drive housing and took a look at everything which all looked fine???, so I pulled the airshift module, turns out someone installed the airshift piston in backwards, when they did that the longer side of the piston now faces rear toward the T/C so...
my brakes would build pressure when driving do to a weak brake return spring allowing the push rod to put slight pressure on the M/C . When the truck wasn't moving the pedal stayed where it was suppose to but the spring was weak enough to let the pedal move when the truck would bounce some going...
No
axle and diff are fine
I can hear all the noise coming out of the T/C ( engine not running)
I did put in fresh oil after install, old oil looked good and did not notice any metal parts falling out though I did not put my finger into hole but I'll take a look in there this week just for Sh...
OK
I jacked up the left front tire today and engaged the airshift, truckwas not running but I used remote air from my shop compressor hooked to the rear glad hand. I could turn the front tire by hand and feel it catch and release and catch and release over and over did not matter what dirrection...
CEM
I vaguely remember reading something on this in the past so take it for what its worth, when the air govenor reaches its preset pressure it trips a valve/switch on top of the compressor and puts it into bypass mode and it sounds like thats whats (Not) happening now, as mentioned the air gov...
