That guy was an International nut, he had that 10 door Travelall and several scouts, a couple of trucks, an ambulance, an old round top Travelall, several pickups.... Hey Gimpy, you suppose a guy could link a couple of M105 tanks or a cluster of four together for an air pig? Glen

How fast does a M1008 go?

I ran the crap out of my M1008 one day for a long run, still feel guilty about it. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/44646-m1009-recovery-trip.html Turns out it was wasted too. Glen

How fast does a M1008 go?

Mine was made in 1986 towards the end of the contract, late year trucks were titled as 1987s. There are a few in our membership.

    Wth?Deuce making to much power?

Thanks James, I do know the Air Force disconnected my FDC. I suspect it had a steady diet of JP8. A buddy was following me in his M1009 and snapped these going through town tonight. They are cell photos, but you get the picture. :driver: Glen

How fast does a M1008 go?

I never saw a ten bolt with that full floating hub on the back you posted with tire earlier.

Hats off to career deuce drivers!

I am enjoying this as I posted a similar story a while back. You cannot see the trailer in the mirror and once you do, it is almost too late. I have put them in and out of my driveway, no one shot passes yet.... My bass boat was cake, my car trailers were cake, even a 53 foot trailer behind a...

How fast does a M1008 go?

I guess I am an old guy and do not get it. When I drove my first M1008 it sounded like it was buzzing at 50 mph. I could run it around 45 to 48 and get close to 20 mpg running down the road. It was a sad day for me when I got plowed by a Suburban. When I finally picked up my new to me 2nd...

How fast does a M1008 go?

It all looks good, nice and clean and original, even the correct tire size. Glen

    Wth?Deuce making to much power?

Reading this thread kind of concerns me as my truck will really bellow out the black smoke. I never run over 2200 though and seldom over 2000. It pulls strong and walks right over hills in high gear, even with a trailer on. I hope I am not set up for a head gasket failure or an exiting rod. It...

Putting larger tires on the deuce using stock rims...

I thought I wanted 395s, then I saw a nice looking truck with 11.00x20s on it, Michelins. They really look nice. The more time I spend with these 900x20s though, the more I seem to like them. I do have all Titan T-Hawks in like new condition on mine now. NDTs are dangerous on the ice and I...

    first time owner of M1008

I never had the die coming off a hard run attack me yet. The late shifting transmission was a cracked vacuum line on my M1009. Flasher units are cheap, bulbs are too, they are all 12 volt like a regular Chevy. Glen

How fast does a M1008 go?

They were designed to run around 1800 to 2200, beyond that and they are past peak. They will spin up and hard though, it is like Russian Roulette though, one of these days you will pay the price for playing the game. If you want to keep your 6.2, I would recommend getting used to 48 to 50 mph...

Thanks for that Jeff, I know mine are way too tight.... way! I saw this thing not far from your hood.....

    Dented hardtop fix

My son and I sat in the seats and shoulder pressed mine back up with our hands. We made a huge improvement. I think the bottle jack and 4x4 is probably much better. Glen

Putting larger tires on the deuce using stock rims...

I noticed a couple of my wheels were stamped with a warning not to install anything larger than a 1200. The stock wheels that is. I think they were also stamped Goodyear. Glen

    air impact wrench

It is plenty big enough for my needs, that is all I need to know. If I step up to a couple of 1" lines and try to run two big impacts at the same time, maybe it will not be enough. Thanks for the math though, I might have known it 35 years ago....

    air impact wrench

One of the M105s I stole tires and wheels off of had RH threads on both sides. I about ruined my bar trying to break the left side loose. When I finally figured it out (duhhh) I thought the other side would be backwards too. I am betting there is another 105 out there with LH threads on the...

    air impact wrench

It used to sit on a pair of those, but I decided shop space was more important than air reserve and gave one tank to a friend in need for his body shop. At any rate, it is a lot of compressor and storage for a home garage. 391 gallons, next time I am in the garage, I will have to look and see...

    air impact wrench

Might be wrong, it is about 6 feet tall and 40" in diameter. Is that a 300 gallon tank? I know when I moved it, I had to leave the tailgate down on my M1008 as it was too long for the bed with compressor. Glen

    air impact wrench

Depends upon the tool that put them on, my Snap On was not up to the task, it got 9 out of 12 loose on the rear axle. I had to go to a buddy's truck shop for the others, old Snappy would not touch any of the inner nuts. I have a large two cylinder compressor with a 500 gallon tank, it will...
