Today I installed 3 metal straps on the water cans to secure them. I then unfolded the new black tarp over the bows.
The tarp is slightly too long to the sides and too long front and back. I will need to fold it under to make it fit better. I plan to measure it while it is in place so I...
Today I added a 2 x 2 pressure treated board on top of the bows I installed. It runs front to back in the center of the bows. I also installed some 1/4" lattice strips on top of the bows. I used 1/4" stove bolts to secure all the lumber.
Here are the pictures of the finished bows.
Been out of commission for 2 weeks to to a skin infection. Nothing got done around here during that time. The new cargo cover has been sitting in my living room since it arrived almost 2 weeks ago.
Finally yesterday i started to work on my bow set. I purchased some 5/4 x 6 pressure treated...
I got a shipment of used 5 ton truck bow corners Tuesday. I will use them with some pressure treated 5/4" lumber as staves and bows. I needed the height of the stock bows so I could cut the staves to the correct height to match them.
I ordered a Heavy Duty 18oz Steel Tarp 16' x 20' - Black ST16-20 for $150.00 plus $23.72 shipping. Sold by Maytee Products.

These covers are used to cover cargo on flatbed trucks and semi trailers.
Well today I went back and repaired my tailgate spring mod. After some though after I initially installed the springs I decided I was not happy with the way I bent the bottom edge of the tailgate to allow placing the springs in.
My solution was to cut the bottom edge of the tailgate just past...
OK how about the same scenario (purchased and picked up out of state) But instead of registering you decide to part it out. If you didn't pay sales tax in WY then you have tax evasion. (unless you collect sales tax from customers if you are a business) We have many members here that buy...
I paid for an SF97 for my HMMWV on 6/23/2016 and received the form with Bill of Sale on 7/12/2016. That is less than 3 weeks! (considering we had a holiday weekend)
There is a grounding lug attached to the chassis of the generator below the control panel. It has a nut on the other side of the cross-member that secures the 2 main grounding wires from the batteries. The ground from the batteries goes to the ground bolt on the starter first. Then it goes to...
Yes. I doubt they need all 3 pumps to feed the fuel from the primary. In fact the auxiliary line feeds the primary fuel tank. Then the fuel is fed to the generator through the 2 primary pumps. The fuel tank has a level shut-off so you can't overfill the tank from the auxiliary source. I...
I think one of the pumps are for the Auxiliary Fuel Feed. You can test the pump by switching from primary to auxiliary fuel and see if you get voltage to the pump.
I decided to tackle the spring assist tailgate mod someone posted on our site.
I did make a change to the installation. I bent the bottom lip of the tailgate where the spring goes instead of cutting the piece out. (see pictures)
I found out the cheapest 5/8" rod to use for the modified...
OK I got the dimensions I need. I also requested a price and availability for the cargo cover. BOWS: L = 72.25" , H = 54.5" , Thickness = 0.073 to 0.093" max , Inside corner radius: 4.25" , Mounting End Thickness: 1"
TARP: L = 95" , H = 63" , W = 72.5"
So a 16' x 20' tarp would work...
I have worked with OSB and I agree it is not the best option for this application. It is very weak in narrow strips. It is also susceptible to water damage. If it is left out in the rain it will absorb the water and swell up badly with time. Once it swells up it is very fragile and weak...
