RE: Re: Fun day with the Blazer (rant)
Another thing that will shear them off is a bolt that is too long. I got the correct rear support bracket for my 1009 and went to the parts place to get a couple of new starter bolts so I could start fresh. The ones they sold me had a different head on...
Bjorn, I will snap some pics of it and see if I can find a part number anywhere. It is dirty and dusty like the rest of the engine so I guess it has been on there for a while. If Chad wouldn't have seen the cord hanging off of it, we might not have noticed it was there at all.
RE: M818
Thanks guys. I'm going to hit Winslow up for 4 new 6TL's of 6TMF's. I'll keep the 2 decent ones for a future project and sell the other 2 to the battery shop. I think I will pick up a couple of solargizers for it too.
I need to pull the sprag valve and see what's up next...
I know we've covered adding the heaters in several posts, but mine already had one in the rear-most location. I'm curious about when these heaters would be added in service. Was it part of the arctic winterization kits? Mine has the remains of the cab insulation and the shifter boots, as well...
Looks like a fun project. Somebody went crazy with the label maker. Was it really necessary to label MPH and RPM. If a drive doesn't know what a speedo looks like they should go back to driver's ed. Hopefully you'll be able to find a deuce dump bed for it. A sandblaster and some NDT's would...
I'd leave the top off. It could get ugly with any low-hanging branches. I will pack the Stihl just in case :) If I still have the 818, I'm going to have to stack some weight in front of the 5th wheel for traction. The bobtail rear gets light with heavy braking so I imagine traction will be...
Noise from your truck is fine. My 818 makes plenty of that. I enjoy listening to it under bridges and beside walls. I know it's also fun to blow smoke at irritating motorists, but we as a group have to be careful. We don't need to give anyone further ammo against military vehicles...
That'll be handy to have with your fleet :) That's some strange looking camo though. It looks like it got parked on the wrong side of the tracks one night. So, with 5 different hose reels, what fluids will you put in the tanks besides 80w90 and 15w40? Will it dispense grease too?
I like the idea of running the long trails. The only problem with Haspin is it is a lot of spur trails that taper off into goat paths. We got a lot of practice turning around deuces and the like in tight quarters. Mud holes that are trouble for Jeeps shouldn't be a problem for the rest of us.
RE: One of Them
Please be careful if you decide to chain it to something and pull it off. If the brakes work at all, someone should be in the cab to slow it down. If they don't then make sure you use a long chain to hook it to a tree or whatever heavy object you choose and get out of the way...
Yes, the title of the forum says it all, "Politics Related to the MV Hobby." I don't want to see any party or candidate bashing in here. There are plenty of Pro-whatever sites out there where you can bloviate to your heart's content about who's fault it is.
I jumped the 818 with my Excursion tonight and took it for a spin. Man, I love that truck. I think I am enjoying it more than the 923A2. It's something about that raw torque from the 855 Cummins, the 5-speed and the sporty performance. I haven't driven a bob-tail tractor before so I am not...
Thanks jwaller and bkubu. I'll check all of the air lines first before I tear into the valve. If the lines are OK then maybe the valve is gummed up. If that's OK, then I'll check the t-case actuator next. Looks like I need to pull the tranny inspection cover to get a good view of the valve...
Interesting... mine didn't work regardless of the pressure though. It would hiss going into 1st gear, but no clunk would follow. It wouldn't make any noise going into reverse. I think I will start with the valve on the tranny and make sure it is free and then move on to the actuator in the...
