Most synthetic lube manufacturers will admit that you should break an engine in on dino oil before switching to synthetic. I would give it about 10k miles or 4 oil changes before switching the engine over. I would break the diffs in with dino too.
RE: M818
I hear ya Wayne. I used DOT 5 because that is the OE fluid and I didn't have time to do a full-system flush. I have used it in all of my MV's (except the 923A2 of course) and have had good luck with it. If it was a truck that I was going to drive all the time, it would be more...
Ha! I wondered about that. It still has quite a bit left in the cab. The shift boots are a nice touch :) I was looking at the tabs around the hood and grill at the truck stop for the hood blanket, but it never sank in that it was for the arctic kit!
Re: RE: New SS M818 made it home!!
Thanks David. I can just see him bouncing around in the spring seat as we go merrily down the highway  The 127 would be handy too.
Thanks guys! I love that darn thing already. I may go sleep in the cab tonight. It feels really "sporty" for a 20,000 lb vehicle :)
Here's a vid from when we got it running today:

Hey all,
Here's some pics and details from today's 818 recovery. My brother, Chad, and I left my house at 0530 and headed for BigWheelBob Stevens' place near Jacksonville, NC. BWB towed my 818 from Lejeune to his place for staroage until I could get down there to bring it home. We got there...
It is a very nice book. I have know David for quite a few years now and I can say with certainty that I have never met a man more knowledgeable about MV's than David. I look forward to the next edition! He's a great contributing SS member too :) Thanks David!
Re: VA Rally
Rest assured, Karl. The trails will be wide enough by the time we're done  I'll have a 5-ton of some sorts there or the 1008 trail truck my brother and I are planning on putting together
Good posts Ethan and Mark. It's nice to have a visual for all of the possible dryer systems that we may encounter.
It sure is a lot more simple and inexpensive that the Haldex Pure Air Plus desiccant dryer system on my 923A2: http://shortlinks.net/rub882 Of course they went to that fancy...
I drove from WV to MD to see a GF while in college. It was the middle of summer so I drove the entire 5 hours with all windows open including the rear. By the time I got there I was soaked in sweat and covered in soot. I had a black ring-around-the-collar that bleach wouldn't touch!! :P
The banner ads are coming soon, eh-hem, cough, cough.
I know there are other clubs out there that would join the fight. So as not to hi-jack garp's thread any more, I will start a new one for SS PAC discussion.
RE: Same Thing for me
Hey Woody! Welcome to SS. I got an email from a hunting buddy of mine one time and it was full of pictures detailing Critter Gitter # 4 http://www.crittergitters.net/critter_gitter_4.htm Awesome fab work! Sorry to hear Daniel "Leaky Welds" Little gave you the shaft too.
