RE: 2003 Stewart & Stevenson 2.5 Ton LMTV Deuce-and-a-Ha
If you are talking about the one on Ebay, it looks to be owned by a DoD contractor. The contractor may be able to resell it so long as they have the proper paperwork from S&S and as long as there is no government protected equipment on it.
Lots of photo editors will allow you to convert bitmap images to .jpg without turning all grainy and weird. Email it to me and I'll see if I can convert it for you.
Well, crap, that's kinda what I figured. If you know your parts man, he may be willing to do a warehouse search for you and turn up one collecting dust somewhere.
Hey Rod,
I got one for my '84 from the dealer. That was in 1996 though so I don't know if they still sell them. It was very heavy rubber with all the humps molded in and the bolt holes stamped for easy cutting.
Nice looking CUCV! Welcome to the SS family. Alfa sure puts out a sharp looking truck. As for the gear change, I think you will be pleased with the 3.73s. I ran 35"s on mine with 3.73's and I was very pleased with take-off and highway RPMs.
My '09 did that once too. It was the weirdest thing. At the time I had a 12v voltmeter installed on Gen 1 and the voltage pulsed with the light. I put new brushes, regulator and diode trio in it and problem was solved.
Man, those 911's are beastly. I saw one up close at Memphis Equipment a few years back. Made my deuce look like a pick-up. It would be just the ticket for any of our members who have some armor to tote around though!
I see they have those nice quiet Detroit's too.
That may be the...
Good point Bjorn for those of us in the chillier parts of the world. Course being that it was a freakish 70+ here today, we might not see another freeze until next winter :D
Wow, that's beefy! It make the already impressive bridge truck look even more intimidating. Excellent fabwork Steve. Any thoughts of putting it into production?
Ethan, everything I have read on the subject says that DOT 5, being silicone based, is not hygroscopic and will not absorb water from the atmosphere. Therefor I would think that you could keep a jug of DOT 5 tightly sealed on the shelf for an indefinite period and use as needed until gone...
Oh man that stinks! It's not like the deuce has a little econobox "meep-meep" horn either. I once had my car alarm go off in my '73 Super Beetle while I was driving down the road. That sucker went off all the way until I could pop the lid and clip the siren wires! :D
Just don't fall through the floor on the way home! Kinda reminds me of a M1009 I had once. The floor mat hid all the cancer and kept valuables from hitting the highway :D It was a little "spongy" though. As for fiberglass, I did a major overlay on my first M1009 with it. It was sturdy, but...
