WTB Winch and parts needed for a M109A3

Congrats on your new arrival Josh! There are quite a few surplus companies out there that sell winch kits for the G-742 series of trucks. http://www.adelmans.com http://www.tnjmurray.com http://www.easternsurplus.net/spares1.html to name a few.

Check out my new 5-ton!....errr 7.5-ton!

Ha, yeah right. I did spot this one while cruising by the Seabee base in Norfolk today and managed to snap a photo without wrecking. Pretty sweet new tractor! Anyone know what it is? Subject title upgraded

Glow plugs vs. Ether on a CUCV

Speaking of which, do you hold it to the floor when starting? If you read the starting procedure, it says to do so. That sets the high-idle solenoid. Check the cold advance and make sure it's getting juice when the ign is on and the engine is cold. There is a water temp switch on the right...

Best rust solutions? Rustoleum, spray converter + paint?

RE: Best rust solutions? Rustoleum, spray converter + paint I like the rust convetors. Eastwood makes a couple of nice ones. Some are phosphoric acid based and will leave a black phosphate coating. Those have worked well for me as they are thin and will work into seams. You just need to...

    CUCV pickup trailer hitch ideas

How about buying a pintle/ball combo that will bolt in place of the current pintle? Paint in OD or Sand and it would be hard to spot the difference.

    M123E2 recovery trip

Enjoyed the pics! Wish I could get the Google Vid to work. It just keeps buffering. Maybe it'll work for me later.

    CUCV Poll

Hmmm, doesn't seem to be any real pattern as my '84 model was made in late '83 and was not coated. The '85 I had was a WV ARNG truck and really could have used the protection, but it wasn't either.

It definitely looks like fun Dave. Does the driveline have anything in common with the 800 or 900 series trucks?

Here's a pic of the data plate from Dave Newman's truck. Neat looking truck. The "manufactured by" and "contract no" are blank. Dave's listing says:

    CUCV Poll

Only thing mine were undercoated with was rust. The non-rusty parts were coated with a thin layer of GM chassis black, OD, or desert tan.

    Gama Goat new Home

When I was there last time, they were cutting off all parts that weren't aluminum and stacking the tubs up on top of each other to go to the recycler. I'd say most of them are gone now. It's a shame, but they probably sat there for 25 or 30 years without anyone doing anything with them. I'm...

    removing bows from troop seating.

I have seen wooden bows with screws in them to prevent them from dropping all the way down in the pocket.

Here's some pics! Great meeting you and your family, John. It was so nice to have the rain start pouring as soon as we got there to get it loaded. Almost as bad as when me and DR picked it up from Hammonds. I can't wait to see what y'all do with it. I do know it has gone on to a greener...

    Glow plugs?????????????

It was nice not to have to worry about glow plugs on at least one of my trucks! Unless it gets REAL cold in LA you shouldn't have to worry about the flame heater or ether. Mine always started in WV no matter the temp. I always cranked it a few times with the fuel off to get some oil moving...

    may have to sell deuce

Man that's tough Serp. Glad she's OK and it was only the car. I had to sell my Mog a while back to get my wife a car after her Escort's engine locked up. Like 5ton said, there are plenty out there so hopefully you'll have another one in the near future. It would be nice if a SS member got it...
