I had the same problem. Used option 2 in the instructions, and cut off the wiper shaft to use the knurled knobs. Filed flats on the shaft for the setscews. I was very careful not to overtighten the tiny setscrews. The knob would work loose on the shaft, and I would find the setscrews loose...
Just got back from inspection and it passed this time. This was the guy who said I needed the light bar and the parking lights on with the headlights. I made those mods. The truck previously passed inspection twice at another place without those items, but this guy seemed positive it needed...
I'm in Clarion County, not far from you.
My deuce is registered as class 8, with 23,000 lb GVW. $405 / year. It hauls logs and boards, so I needed the payload.
I have commercial insurance through National Indemnity for $773 annually. Most of that is because it is used in logging, even...
I just completed this mod yesterday, because I was told the parking lights had to be on the same time as the headlights to pass PA state inspection. Not sure that's true if it wasn't set up originally that way.
Anyway, I jumped circuit 21 to circuit 491 as described in the other thread, and it...
I swapped from a C to a D turbo. The C would give about 7 psi max, and the D gave about 8 before turning up the fuel. I noticed that the D seemed to start providing boost at a lower RPM.
I installed a pyro and turned up the fuel and now get about 12 psi.
It was a direct swap - took about an...
I'm also interested in hydraulic winch setups, so found this thread and I followed the link to the pictures of Fred G's truck on Eastern Surplus. After a quick look at the pictures, I realized this winch is in my garage right now!! :o
I first noticed the fairlead rollers to guide the cable...
I got my D turbo off ebay for $76.25 plus $23.00 shipping. It seems more people want the C because of the sound effects. I work around my truck with the engine idling, loading logs with a 24 volt winch, and the noise was too much.
It was pretty much a basic bolt-on job. I used the original...
If I could only have one, I would go for the D. The C sounds very cool, but the way I use my truck the noise is just too much. The difference in torque is noticeable too.
I'm thinking of swapping the C back on for a few events this summer, like the "Jeep Nite" sponsored by a local tavern.

I recently swapped turboes and took pictures while they were both out. Installed a pyrometer probe at the same time.
The C turbo gave 7 psi max boost, the D gave 8 psi max, and gives some boost at much lower engine RPM. I since turned up the fuel and get 12 psi. Turned the truck from a real...
With either one or two lockouts on an axle, the differential carrier and ring and pinion will still be turning because they are geared to the driveshaft. Same as with no lockout.
With one lockout disengaged, the axle shafts will be turning at the same speed except for small differences caused...
On the Biodiesel forum I find lots of discussion about thinning vegetable oil with Regular Unleaded Gasoline (RUG), or kerosene or other solvents. The typical mix is 5% to 25% RUG. It is of course filtered. They then use it without heated tanks in their vehicles. Here are some examples...
I've beening thinking of the same thing.
I have a Tekonsha brake controller powered from the 24v - 12v converter that I got from an ebay seller. The converter is supposed to be overcurrent protected.
As a test of my setup, I stopped the deuce and civvy trailer on a slight upgrade and tried...
You guys that are trying glow plug heaters or ether, is this because of problems with the manifold flame heater?
I suspected the flame heater for my rising crankcase oil level, and dropping oil pressure. (pressure is back to normal with recent oil change). I verified that the flame heater...
This truck will hold 70 on the highway:

The only way I can get mine above 55 is to go downhill. Gotta get the pyro installed.

Re: RE: tires
Has anyone run these tires as duals on a Deuce? The Goodyear website
http://www.goodyear.com/cfmx/web/truck/datapage.cfm?prodline=161006&webprodline=G177
says 13.2" minimum dual spacing. I measure about 12.7" on my truck. I know this has been asked before, but I haven't...
