Black smoke == fuel, so it sounds like you're getting some through the injectors on the high pressure side. Is it trying to fire at all?
No, it's not an oil filter issue - that will fill while you're cranking.
How is your cranking voltage? If you don't get it spinning fast enough, it's not...
I've had a Hobart 210 and spool gun for a couple years now. It's a good, solid welder. Being able to pick up consumeable parts at a local store like Tractor Supply is very handy when there's no local welding shop around. I've never had any trouble with the unit.
The Onan / AMBAC specs are indeed correct. The nuts on the pump studs can be done with a torque wrench, you just need to use the proper sized crow's foot that's been kicking around in the bottom of your toolbox for the last couple decades to get in there. This setup worked well for me.
Not likely a low oil pressure or high temperature shutdown if it's catching and coming back up to speed or continuing to try and run. You could disable those sensors easily and verify. Seems very unlikely this is a control system initiated shutdown. Always check to make certain the IP is being...
Restriction in a fuel line or the check-valve? There's lots of places in the fuel system for crud to hide besides the filters. I'd go through and check and clean each line and fitting from tank to IP. Could also be something in the tank blocking the fuel pickup as it floats around; I've had a...
I don't think this problem is related to LED lights. I had a very simular issue, and it was a bad ground to the flasher module itself. There's a single ground wire from the module that grounds to a body panel. Remove, clean the lug and replace the screw, nut, and lockwasher with clean hardware...
Muffler will not do much to reduce noise if that's what you're after; much of the noise is from other sources on these gensets. Search is your friend, as this subject has been covered quite a bit.
Might also want to try working the reconnection switch back and forth a couple times to see if a switch contact is dirty (but not with the genset running - that would be really bad).
Nice mill. Gorton made good solid stuff.
Do you know which spindle taper it has? Model number of the mill would be a starting place - but may not be the ending place in figuring it out - since some mills were made with more than one spindle taper. Nailing this down will save you some...
Don't know the exact address, but the lot is on Barnum Road, about 1,000 yards from the rotary / Wendy's. On the right hand side, can't miss it while driving by.
It's a Sunday only flea market - seller setup @ 8 AM, open to buyers from 9 AM until 2 PM at the NH NG Armory in Milford, NH.
I'll be there driving my M35A2; don't have much choice - it's about 5 miles from home and pretty much all down hill!
See you there!
An interesting discussion.
If reduction in friction is indeed always the result, then it lends credence to the idea of a single substance being added to both a automatic transmission and a limited slip differential; this might make both types of clutches engage and disengage more smoothly...
Fair enough, Dave.
As for the additive, I don't think it's possible for it to have two different effects in two different fluids (unless it's somehow reactive with compounds in the fluids themselves - but we should discount that argument here) - the bigger question is does it _really_ work and...
