It sounds like you may have accelerated an already worn out HH. Didn't you say you always had to use starting fluid to get it going. I'm glad it worked out and I think your experiance and documenting it will help many people in the future.

I would have to lean towards contaminated brake fluid also. You can't mix DOT3 and DOT5 which is what the deuces come with.
If you have had mixing you will need to go through all brake parts.
I used the frame to make a subframe for the springs on my bobber. That way I didnt have to use blocks and the 2 stage M105 springs make for a not so stiff ride. I also used the rear section and mounted it under my deuces frame to mount my reese hitch to.
