Install I'm sure was done by the government. It was an armored vehicle so I'm going to surmise it had to work when installed. So maybe the sensors are bad and I ordered a couple.
Maybe the dryer is bad, ordered one of those as well. Still one of the questions remain, at what pressure do the...
First, does anybody have any pictures of the evaporator mounted without the armor plates? My evaporator is laying in the back with a lower bracket. I'm looking to see what others have done without armor plates. Or if the armor plates can be purchased, any insight would be appreciated...
Finally got my 6.5 turbos today. Now I'm looking for turbos. Searching right now but what GM van year/models have rear mount turbos that will work on the Hmmwv 6.5 TD?
Also, any recommendations to places to purchase such as rebuild shops etc?
Thanks
Speedometer isn't working, tracing it back and I think one of the shafts tips in my Drive Pinion is broke off in the Speedometer adapter.
Here's a pix where I unscrewed the housing so the entire shaft can be seen. It's rigged at the tip like has broke.
Figure 488 in TM 9-2320-280-24P-2 a Pin...
I do have a 242. I think all 4 of mine have 242's, just haven't seen this wiring harness and none of the 4 have a transfer indicator light in the dash to my knowledge.
So the question is finding a light, plugging the wires, taking it off etc.
Also, the best I can tell, 458C & D come the transfer case for a indicator light which I don't have and haven't seen one in a Hmmwv as of yet. So I guess I'll just cap them.
From the TM.
Disconnect harness lead 33B (8) from engine temperaturesending unit (7).
Left head at front.
I found 33B wasn't even hooked up to the sending unit, hooked it up and the gauge started working.
I figured that out but there was a section in the TM that stated 458A & B to 458 C & D. But in other areas it states hook the fan temp switch to 458A & B.
But now I have 458C & D which I'm trying to figure out where they go.
Actually wire 33B is the wire that goes to the Temperature sending unit. The temperature sending unit for the temp gauge is on the left head under the alternator. Diagram is in TM 9-2320-280-34 section 3-4
I still don't know what to do with 458C & D. I have a wire 568 Think it's 568B, if...
I'm having issue with the temp gauge on one of my -9-2320-280-34 I see 458A in several places.
One place it states connect these to the fan clutch temperature switch in the water crossover. (Edited this as I thought that was the to the actual water temperature gauge.
Yet, in section 3-25 it...
Instead of starting a new thread, I'll piggy back on here. I was all set to go with Rusty Metal on some hmmwv's I'm prepping where I had to go down to the metal. However, I'm being warned by some that Latex will not last long on top of an oil based primer. I'm interested to hear more thoughts...
Getting ready to get some paint today and have a couple more questions.
For anybody sanding, did you use a primer and if so what? Hopefully something from HD as well.
For the Wagoner sprayer, what model did you get? I'm looking at the Wagner Control Spray Double Duty HVLP sprayer. Also...
I view it as I tried to fix a problem that didn't exist and created one. (Leave well enough alone comes to mind) In hindsight, I probably should have just left everything alone and carried a new control box and Glow Plug temp sensor with me to change out should a problem ever came up. The...
The S3's from what I perceive aren't supposed to have as many problems, right? Mine had the original prestolite. I probably have just left it in to see if anything happened. But replaced it, glow plug temp sensor and alt because I wanted to want to have issues. That hasn't worked out but...
Thanks.
Now make that 3. I'm going through one of my slant backs which has a 200 amp alternator and sure enough just tapping the positive battery cable to the positive terminal, a little arc. I tried using my voltmeter to see what the amp draw was but haven't got that figured out just yet...
RWH,
I have upgraded to a 200 amp. The first one I noticed was causing a draw on the battery when the truck was off. I was told it was a bad diode. So I put on a different this afternoon as mentioned above and still have the draw on the battery with the switch off. I'm starting to think...
I agree with Steve. I had one of mine cutting on at 200 degrees instead of 215. I changed out the temp sending unit in the water cross over and now it's 215 degrees like it states in the TM.
My 2 man, I had a starter go bad. Or that's what I think. One day it just wouldn't start and with power getting to the hot switch on the solenoid. Replaced with new starter and things worked fine.
I replaced glow plugs, installed a S3 controller, matching TSU, installed the octopus grounding...
I use one of the quart bottles gear oil comes in with the nipple end on it. It will bend, and fluid will come out when you squeeze. I use those bottles to fill everything.
