You might also look at the 24v-12v resistor that is centered on the fire wall. If this is bad you will need to bypass it. I would recommend bypassing even if it isn't bad. They are a waste of battery power. I've had 3 of them go bad and start smoking.
I had a problem with my glow plug controller card once. After finding no power on the glow plugs, I jumped my glow plug solenoid over with a wrench for about 15 seconds. Make sure the key is on when you do this and quickly attempt to start the truck afterwards. The truck started fine with this...
Any th400 will bolt up correctly; however, you are better off buying one from a 4wd. If you buy a 2wd th400 you will have to disassemble the old and replacement transmission in order to change the tail. If there is any way possible, save yourself some time and money and have it professionally...
Ah, the passion these vehicle invoke when at times excitement and pride turn to hatred and disbelief. I love them and hate them by the hour. I often ask, why do I keep fixing these old green cans, only to love it when it starts and idles like a dream. You just got to love the old things. Good...
Well, i got the engine and transmission out of the truck and it is in great shape. The engine in the chevy box truck ran great and the transmission shifted smooth. I've already got the old seized 6.2 out of the 08. I think your right southdave, I'm going to go ahead and drop it in place. It will...
Jesus H. Christ kid, just take your significant funds and buy one of each. Seriously, do some research and make the decision. I've personally found that none of my CUCVs make good daily drivers. I love them and I hate them all and sometimes within the same hour. Good luck, mate.
I found a few on GL, so I think your right. They experimented with them in a few different applications. I believe I'm going to put it in the old farm 08. It may be underpowered, but it never goes on the road.
I like the changes; however, I'm going to miss the old color scheme. I always felt like I was sitting in a deuce with the old colors. Now, it feels modern and linked with current military gear. Great job, I'll just have to adjust to the site and watch a few MASH episodes. Thanks to all who put...
This engine is a Hercules D198ER. The D198ER is designed for military applications. It has a displacement of 198 cubic inches, and produces 58 horsepower at 2,600 rpm. It is 32 inches long, 24 inches wide, and 31 inches tall. It weighs 695 lbs.
Thanks, I've just never seen this setup before in a chevy truck. I just wish the motor was comparable to a 4bt. Then I would put it in my best 08. Hopefully, someone will know the model number. I will post some more pictures after I tow it home next week.
I'm buying this engine bolted to a 4 speed transmission in a chevy box truck. I know it is a 4 cylinder hercules turbo diesel, but I would like to know the exact model. I may drop it into my farm use 08 with a blown motor or use it on a generator. It just depends on how much power it has. I've...
No these trucks are not reliable, unless you go through them thoroughly. I don't think they make good daily drivers, they ride rough and AC upgrades are expensive. You say you only need to go 45-50. I thought the same thing. I was wrong. Most of the time I crawl around town like a senior...
Yes, I've done this, an your lights will be dimmer than normal if you use the same color led and lens. Standard brake bulbs are white with a red cover. There are yellow turn signal bulbs, but most of these are installed under a clear lens.
Buy stand alone 12v leds from amazon and fit them in the original bezel. I've done this for many applications. Don't buy red leds to go under a red lens. Always go with white, the lens will provide plenty of color. After fitting the leds you can paint the bezel for a better look. The easiest...
Don't let the new car feeling get you in over your head. Stick with simple maintenance and replace anything old or worn out. I can't even count the projects I've jumped into, only to realize that it is not worth the time and money. Let the new wear off and slowly build the machine that you...
Just hit it and lay clear. I've seen many stuck like this and I've had a few hit me in the head. Now would be a good time to replace the u-joint bearing also. I normally hit the bearing, which destroys it. It lets the driveshaft fall. Then I put a new one back. Remember to mark the position of...
