    air filter base gasket

I've always used the tubes of gasket maker for the intake base. Run a small bead all the way around and give it a day to dry before reinstalling.

If it can be broke, I will break it. Therefore, I have broken it.

The amperage to the solenoid was to high. I have tested a few of these starters and they will draw an incredible amount of current as they continue to run. If the power is available, the starter will draw it, unless restricted. I've been doing some research and it seems that going over any...

If it can be broke, I will break it. Therefore, I have broken it.

I bought another M1008 last week and changed the starter (DH) relay. Well, I normally add a third battery in all my CUCVs. This time, I added four because of the dual winches and 5500w power inverter. It caused the new starter (DH) relay to fail. I just had to have another battery! It's a hard...

    Rebuilt IP installed won't start

Great job. Did you adjust your timing marks or just line them up? I've adjusted mine, but I don't feel any difference.

    Rebuilt IP installed won't start

Put the intake back on, tighten all the injector lines, and bleed through the fuel filter housing. It will take some cranking, just take your time and it will start. I had the same issue when reinstalling my IP.

    Dual Exhaust vs Single 3"

Wait until you get the turbo or you'll just have to redo it anyway.

    What has your 6.2 pulled ? MPG's ??

Mine pulled itself to the side of the road!

    Un-muffled 6.2

I ran mine w/o mufflers for a while turned out in front of the rear wheels. I also added 2.5" O/D by 1" I/D washers inside the pipe. Sounded great at idle, but was to loud when revved. It sounds like a drag car doing 110, but your only doing 30. It's alright in the winter, when the windows are...

    M1008 possible purchase

Don't let low mileage fool you. Many of these trucks have set and idled night and day, only shut off to be refueled. They are all old trucks and need much attention. Try to find one for sale by owner and hope they have done some overhauling.

    Fuel filter bleading issue

Just laugh or ignore the sarcasm and if you need more help, just ask. Someone will help you. We've all been in your position before. It's hard to know everything, you've got to learn sometime/some way. Good luck, mate.

    Fuel filter bleading issue

With the truck running, crack open each injector one at a time until you see fuel leak out, then close. This will remove any trapped air from the system. Make sure the filter is installed correctly with the arrow following fuel flow to the engine.

Is a CUCV right for me?

The M1009 gears are 3.08 and the M1008 are 4.56. That's the difference. The 6.2 cannot handle these gears with a load in the bed or on a trailer. I don't consider it towing until you've got at least 2 ton. A small car can pull a ton. A truck of this caliber should be able to tow 3 ton with...

Is a CUCV right for me?

Your right, but these trucks are not geared right. They make a great toy, but need a turbo and a higher gear to do any heavy towing. Good luck, either way you go mate.

Is a CUCV right for me?

Alright, hook up a real load and take it up a small grade hill. I don't mean to jab at you, I just don't want this guy to buy a truck that will not tow. By example, I had around 800lbs in the bed and 2 ton on a trailer. It did fair on level ground. Slow acceleration, 50-55, but when I came to...
