If your going to use it to tow with, just forget it. These trucks barely have the power to tow themselves down a hill. I've tried it too many times. The trucks have very little real world use- playing in the mud, driving in a parade. It's actually a little embarrasing to know that these trucks...
I've got a good 6.2 in the truck running now, but I don't think that will help you were to far apart. You can send me a message if your interested, I will give you a good price based on the shipping you would have to pay. Good luck, mate.
M1008's are absolutely the worst trucks on the face of the earth. I have similar model 1/2 tons that out tow and go places that these sinkers won't. Unless you have a personal connection to these trucks, then don't waste your time or money. However, they are a good starting point for a build.
When you continuosly crank the engine, and it doesn't start, you should have unburnt fuel (smoke) coming out the exhaust. If the fuel (smoke) isn't coming out, make sure the pink/redwire on the injector pump has power. I've had this problem before and it always turns out to be a glow plug system...
I've driven military trucks that had low mileage, but sit idling for long periods of time at guard positions. Hour meters would be more accurate in military vehicles.
W-85 Fuel - 85% WMO / 15% gasoline. Measure accurately. Test the fuel by taking a very small portion way off to the side and hold a flame to it for about 3-4 seconds. If it doesn't ignite, like gasoline, you will be fine. If it does ignite, add more oil. Your adding the gasoline to make wmo...
It sad to say that I still haven't corrected this problem. I installed a clear fuel line to the injector pump to watch for air entering the system. No air entering the lines. I have adjusted the IP timing to no avail. Fuel filter and housing ruled out as a problem. I'm begining to think that I...
I have installed the rebuilt injector pump ($355) and replaced all rubber fuel lines. I'm still having problems with air entering the fuel somewhere. This leads to no power on hills. No big deal, at least I know whats wrong. The pump shop said the the wmo was not to blame for pump failure. I...
I am sending my IP off to be rebuilt. I have two extra 6.2L injector pumps in a box. I grounded them and briefly touched 12v to the terminal where the pink wire goes. Nothing happened. Is this a proper way to test an uninstalled injector pump? I'm going to send one of the extras in to be rebuilt...
Thanks for the link matt, I have narrowed it down to the IP. The IP shaft cracked, but didn't break completely. I don't think it had anything to do with the 80/20 WMO. I have a tank heater and inline fuel heater on the truck so the fuel reaches 175 F before reaching the IP. At this temperature...
I have been running WMO for about six months now. I started with a mixture of diesel (20%) and WMO (80%) filtered to 1 micron. I have recently (four weeks) been running a mixture of 85% WMO and 15% RUG. Yesterday, the truck lost power. Full throttle acheived 5 mph and 1/2 mph on hills. I read a...
The more you type, the more the hype. Stop feeding the bears and you'll be fine. A fools voice is made known through a multitude of (pointless) words. Just ask your questions, you will get answers. Leave the bear food out of it.
I've got four sets in the basement (90%+). I've got connections with the old men at the morning coffee resteraunt. Get to know them, ask them to keep an eye out. Next thing you know they've all got tires layed out everywhere.
